In Nairobi, rebuilding a library means reclaiming history and reimagining who it belongs to.

“How to Build a Library,” from directors Maia Lekow and Christopher King, follows Shiro Koinange and Angela Wachuka as they work to transform the historic McMillan Memorial Library into a space for the community.

The film premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and airs tonight on PBS’ POV.

The film premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, where Blaževičius won the Directing Award: World Cinema Dramatic.

Through Sundance Institute, Redford built a community where storytellers could take creative risks, share their perspectives, and bring new stories to the world. His vision lives on in every artist we support.

Watch the trailer for “American Doctor,” directed by Poh Si Teng, following three American medical professionals as they travel to Gaza to provide emergency care amid staggering destruction and loss, then speak out about what they witnessed.

The film premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival and is now playing at the Angelika Film Center in NYC, with a Los Angeles opening at the Laemmle Royal next Friday via Watermelon Pictures.
