Our 2026 Soirée was a wonderful celebration in New York City, and a great success thanks to all our supporters. Last night, 90 compassionate New York professionals gathered in the sun-drenched on the Lower East Side to connect, cheer on the Knicks, and rally together to raise crucial funds for our 12 frontline programs, raising over $59,000! The Coalition’s First Step Program still has a openings available for our next class. The program offers job training that gives homeless and low-income women the tools they need to find living-wage jobs. In our 14-week long in-person program, you will gain the skills, experience, and confidence you need to set you and your family up for future success. The program includes 6-weeks of classroom learning followed by 8-weeks of real-world, internship experience. Last week, Coalition supporters came together at the annual Women Mean Business Luncheon to celebrate the success of our First Step graduates – and together, we raised over half a million dollars. The time for promises is over—New Yorkers deserve action now. It has been 428 days since Mayor Mamdani promised to drop the CityFHEPS lawsuit and expand access to housing vouchers for people living in shelter. It has been 14 days since the Mayor filed an appeal that blocks this expansion and delays New Yorkers’ access to stable housing.

We are joining our coalition partners to call on the Mayor to honor his promise, drop the legal challenge, and ensure CityFHEPS expansion moves forward. New Yorkers cannot wait any longer.

45 years ago today, the Coalition for the Homeless was first incorporated out of necessity. And while we wish homelessness had been solved decades ago, we’re proud that for 45 years, we’ve stood alongside our most vulnerable neighbors, advocating for change and delivering critical programs that save lives.

We will continue fighting until mass homelessness is ended once and for all. Thank you to every supporter who makes this mission possible.
