There have been five reported killings of trans community members in the US between March and April 2026.

Since 2020, there have been at least three dozen homicides of trans people in the U.S. each year. The number appears to be lower so far in 2026 – but we know that the number of hate crimes reported has been increasing. Changes in representation don’t indicate less violence – they are more likely the result of the relentless anti-LGBTQ+ policies, biased mainstream media and the mistrust in support services that distort the real number of cases.

We know what chosen families, communities, and family of origin share. We know what local reporters uncover. We know what advocates piece together after police reports, social media posts, obituaries, and community grief begin to overlap.

To those we know of, and to those we still don’t know of, rest in power. You deserved to live long, full lives.
