Save the date: Know Your Rights Workshop with Full Time Tenant Union & Bushwick Housing Independence Project - BHIP — Saturday, January 24th from 1:00-3:00 PM – 226 Lefferts Pl, BK 11238

Are you a Full Time or Watermark tenant? This workshop is an opportunity to learn the legal protections tenants already have, and how those rights can be used when buildings face unresolved repairs, rent increases, and ongoing pressure from a profit-driven landlord.

Knowing your rights is not the end of the struggle, but it is a critical starting point. RSVP link: https://tr.ee/YMnWa6LvtY

We're thrilled to announce two more of our amazing honorees for Unite, Fight Back on 23 October: Yanny Guzman and Emmanuel Pardilla!

Tickets are going fast - don't miss out! https://secure.qgiv.com/for/takerootjustice/event/fightback2025/

Yanny Guzman (she/they) is a tenant organizer in the South Bronx. She began organizing tenants in the summer of 2020 after learning that some landlords in Mott Haven reported tenants who asked for repairs to ICE. Together they fought to restore cooking gas after a 9-year shut-off while the building was in foreclosure proceedings. Yanny believes that housing is a human right and is committed to building tenant power in the South Bronx.

Emmanuel Pardilla (he/him) is a communist, vegan writer and the son of black poor-working class Dominican immigrants who found their way to the US after enduring years of dictatorship in the Dominican Republic. He is the membership director at NYC Network of Worker Coops, supporting the growth of worker cooperatives for social and economic justice. He holds a master's in Labor Studies from CUNY. You’ll find him riding his bike around or out of the city, or chilling at the Uptown Veg juice bar.
