Get spooky at Fort Greene Park this Halloween!

Dress up in your best costumes and join the Fort Greene Park Conservancy on Saturday, October 24 (Rain date: Oct 25) from 12:00–4:00pm. Enjoy spooky stories, face painting, family-friendly games, and more. Halloween Fest is free to all, no RSVP required.

If you're dressing up with your furry friend, stop by the 2026 Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest hosted by Fort Greene PUPS from 12:00-1:00pm on October 24 during Halloween Fest. Register your dog to compete at the link in bio! Attendance is free.

Experience the Black History and Culture of Fort Greene Tour led by local historian Suzanne Spellen. Working with Spellen and our Tour Advisory Committee, we develop and refine the route and educational content to help retell Fort Greene’s deep roots in Black history and culture for a personal, on-the-ground look at this important historical context.

Offered in two installments, The Heart of Black Fort Greene: Fulton Street tour and The Fort Greene Black History Makers and Cultural Giants tour provide rich context and history ranging from the 1800s to today. October’s tour will follow the Fort Greene Black History Makers and Cultural Giants route. 

RSVPs are encouraged but not required. All tours are free and will proceed rain or shine!

The Black History and Culture Tour of Fort Greene is an initiative of the Fort Greene Park Conservancy and Myrtle Avenue BID developed in partnership with BlackSpace, the Future Historical Society at BRIC, MoCADA, and the Weeksville Heritage Center.

Rotating lawn usage helps improve long-term lawn health by giving grass and soil time to regenerate.

Throughout the fall, the north half of the Central Lawn (shown in blue) will continue to be on-leash only. For off-leash activities before 9am and after 9pm, please use areas shown in green, including the Myrtle Lawn and the south half of the Central Lawn.

Additionally, two lawns (shown in brown) will close for reseeding this fall:
• South Monument Lawn: Closed beginning October 9
• West Lawn: Closed beginning October 15

Reseeding helps control erosion and restores these areas for healthier, more usable lawns. Both lawns will reopen in late November for on-leash use only.

We’re joining and organizations across NYC for on October 3! 

Meet us at the Visitors Center at 10am to spend a day connecting with the urban forest! Projects will include much-needed maintenance tasks such as removing invasive weeds, clearing harmful glass shards from soils, mulching tree pits and garden beds, cleaning debris from pathways, and more!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Fort Greene Park Conservancy—this year’s Fling was an unforgettable night because of YOU! 

Together, we kicked off our 25th anniversary and raised over $190,000 (32% more than last year) to support the Conservancy’s work, ensuring the year-round continuation of free arts and cultural programming, environmental education, and park maintenance and improvements in Fort Greene Park.

Thanks again to our 2026 Community Heroes for their relentless neighborhood leadership and to our Host Committee for bringing this event to life.

Our incredible performers and artists—Brooklyn Music School Jazz Ensemble, Sadiq Bellamy, and DJ Saint James Joy—who filled the night with music, energy, and joy.

We’re so grateful to our food and beverage partners, Culture Pop Soda, Töst, SWU Bakes, Candor Candy, and Brooklyn W**e Co for keeping guests nourished and refreshed, and to Botanical Brothers for providing beautiful flowers. The Fling is THIS FRIDAY — and it’s a big one! 🎉

We’re celebrating Fort Greene Park Conservancy’s 25th Anniversary Year with The Fling — our annual celebration in the park — Friday, September 25, 2026 at Monument Plaza (rain date September 26).

Come dance, connect, and celebrate community in the park we love with live music from St. James Joy and the Brooklyn Music School jazz ensemble. Plus Sadiq Bellamy will keep the night moving as emcee!
