Fort Greene PUPS

Fort Greene PUPS Fort Greene PUPS is a nonprofit, dog-owner community dedicated to preserving off-leash hours and helping to care for the park. We are Fort Greene PUPS.

Fort Greene Park Users and Pets Society (PUPS) serves dog owners who use Brooklyn's Fort Greene Park on a regular basis. We do this through education about Fort Greene Park and our responsibility as daily visitors, advocacy for our canine companions, promoting the benefits of off-leash exercise, and providing opportunities for social connection with neighbors in our community. We are Fort Greene Park's most frequent users.

Long-time PUPS member, volunteer, and FGP's very own "Treat Lady” Michelle is in the hospital. On Monday, Feb., 28th, she will have a triple bypass. Recovery is long, and she will need our help until she's back on her Scooter-Snacky feet. Please visit this GofundMe put together by her dedicated friends…and share!

Hi Everyone - This message is from Michelle's friends, Kizzie, Winnie, Amy, and … Dara Furlow needs your support for Help Michelle Recover from ❤️ Surgery!

Last week, we held our quarterly appreciation breakfast for our park workers. It was great to see Rosa, Max, TT, Maldonado, Stephanie, Mike, Torres, and Dave. THANK YOU for all you do!

And a warm welcome to the new Social Well-being team! Luke, Sarah, and Felix are pictured here. Keep an eye out for them and other peer specialists in their red vests around the park, and as they start up community-oriented park programming.

This happened to my dog once (he was OK.) Be careful out there.

A man was out walking his dog when both of them got shocked in Brooklyn.

If you feel like taking a ferry ride…

Leader (one of the Governors Island working dogs) has some very exciting news to share: starting January 22, dogs are welcome on Governors Island on Saturdays between 7am-3pm during the winter season! We're celebrating by opening New York Harbor's very first dog park, which will be open every Saturday this winter from 7am-3pm behind Liggett Terrace.

What to know:
✔️ Dogs are only allowed on the Island on Saturdays between 7am-3pm.
✔️ Dogs must remain on a leash, including while on the Governors Island ferry.
✔️ Dogs and their owners must ride in one of the outdoor sections of the Governors Island ferry.
✔️ Dogs are only allowed off-leash in the designated dog park behind Liggett Terrace.
✔️ You must pick up after your dog and place all dog waste in the landfill bins located around the Island—we'll have bags available, but please bring your own just in case.

Now that Governors Island is open to the public all year long, we are excited to welcome canines (and their humans) on Saturdays between 7am-3pm for this winter pilot program. Learn more at https://www.govisland.com/things-to-do/recreation/dog-days-at-governors-island
