Freedom to move, explore and touch is so important for children with autism 🧩

Cool Culture educator Emprise Williams -- who is also the parent of a child with autism! -- says children with sensory needs and disabilities can have fun in museums, too.

🏀 Swishhhh! Cool Culture is honored to be one of The Starting Five, small businesses and orgs spotlighted this season by New York Liberty and Justworks.

We gave away 4 tickets to our featured game on 8/27 to the Zepeda- Alvarados, a Cool Culture family from Manhattan.

"My family and I use the Cool Culture Family Pass to visit museums and zoos throughout the five boroughs," said Yolitxe Zepeda Alvarado. "We especially like to explore Staten Island."

The family of 5 said the Family Pass has been with them since their oldest, now 18, was just 3 years old.

Yolitxe is also an educator at a Cool Culture school! "At work, we encourage families to visit museums on breaks and have even held contests where we give away puzzles to family that bring in pictures or museum tickets back."

A beautiful Brooklyn summer day together 🪁

We can't believe it's been one month since families and educators gathered together for our final Listening Tour stop, MoCADA Museum

Check out photos from this beautiful day which featured a guided tour of their soccer-themed exhibit highlighting Haiti vs. Congo at the 1974 World Cup and a kite-making activity.

Educators, parents and caregivers also got a chance to share what they love -- or find challenging -- about navigating cultural spaces.

Creative activities like 🍳 cooking & 🖼️ visiting museums can reinforce math & science learning! 

 advocate Malikka D. Karteron of Global25 and BeAbove WorldWide Institute says the Cool Culture Family Pass is a vital tool for her educators and families to get students learning.

We met up with her at MoCADA Museum for our Listening Tour earlier this month. "I believe everybody should have access to the arts regardless of your economic status," she said. "I believe in incorporating the A (Arts) into STEAM because everybody learns differently."

Access to the arts is a key tool for helping young children build literacy and critical thinking skills.
