Well friends, it really was a SeaWife.

From our first rehearsal to a sold-out night at , we’re feeling nothing but gratitude for our friends, and family who packed the house to stomp clapped and sing along with us.

Ten years later, SeaWife still feels alive and more relevant than ever (for better or worse) — and nights like this remind us why we made it in the first place.
Here’s to one day bringing her back to life again…

In just a few hours we’ll be performing the show that changed us forever once again.

Slide 1: the VERY FIRST SeaWife meeting ever
Slide 2: rehearsal this afternoon; a few gray hairs (and weddings and babies) later.

What a journey and privilege it’s been to grow this little piece. But the real privilege is being able to create art with your friends/the most talented people you know. We couldn’t be happier to be back in the same room together, making the molecules move with the music that brought us so far.

Can’t believe we are one day away from bringing these songs back from their watery graves.

10 years ago we were on the historic boards of the Melville gallery at South street seaport, making the walls shake. Tomorrow night we’ll be doing the same at

If you do not have ticket, make sure you’re there when doors open (7pm) at the theater. There will be a VERY LIMITED amount of walk ups available (less than 10) so try and get there early.

We wish we could do another night, but sadly schedules won’t allow. But you know… if there’s a big enough noise… maybe we’ll come back…

Before the songs were all written. Before the ghosts came out of the woodwork. Before the ship set sail—
there were these sketches. 🖋️

Ink on paper, drawn late at night by while SeaWife was still just a haunting idea. These early drawings became the bones of our aesthetic: the sea, the spirits, the storm, the love that wouldn’t die.

Now, ten years later, SeaWife returns for a sold-out anniversary concert — and we’re still chasing that same flicker of ink and salt air.

A few walk-up tickets will be available at the door — come early, and come ready to sing with the spirits.

By the end of 2014, our incredible collaboration with playwright and director had brought our original musical SeaWife far along enough that we felt we needed to bring it to the next level.

Thanks to New York Stage and Film, we spent transformative weeks refining our story, music, and even design- with amazing talents like , , and .

This journey not only elevated our production but also paved the way for Liz to shine as an Artistic Director at NYSF years later. It will always feel like a real hinge moment for our process (and for all of us, as artists); a point where things dropped in and started to feel deeper and solid.

There’s really no place like theater camp.

Before the Sea Carried Us Away

Ten years ago, SeaWife was just a storm of songs, sweat, and stories spilling out under the hot lights of Ars Nova. No sets, no polish — just a band of ghosts and sailors chasing a sound.

Those early nights were chaos and magic. Folk turned fierce. Theater turned alive. And somehow, out of all that noise, SeaWife was born.

Now, a decade later, we’re coming home — guitars tuned, hearts full, ready to raise the sails again. 🌊

10 Years of SeaWife

From the decks of Ars Nova to stages across the country — our journey began with some instruments, a ghost story, and a love of the sea.

2025 marks 10 years since The Lobbyists first brought SeaWife to life — the folk musical that set sail from New York’s indie theater scene and carried us farther than we could’ve imagined. Join us as we celebrate a decade of music, storytelling, and the spirit that started it all.

Happy Opening Night to for their production of Twelfth Night! The theater group is called the Footlighters from Hanover High School in Hanover, NH.

We are so honored and thrilled that they're the first high schoolers to use our music that we composed for 2020 production of Twelfth Night! 🌊⛴️👬

Some months later, after writing a few more songs, reading the thing out loud and hearing audience reactions, we went BACK to the Dragons Egg, this time for a winter excursion.

We brought some friends… costume designer and dramaturg/Day 1 - both of whom were INCREDIBLY instrumental [see what we did there?] in the development of SeaWife.

We also decided to let join us this time.

Folk music, idyllic winter landscapes, cozy jackets, and of course a bloody tale of ghosts, murder, and whaling. ‘‘Twas a good week.

A briefest of brief histories about our journey with playwright , and theater director/producer/bada$$

If you are a fan of musicals, folk, and ghost stories, then ROLL THROUGH in NYC this fall.
