On the margins of UN IMRF 2026, UVGI was honored to attend the launch of the GCM Family Unity Initiative and participate in the event “Stronger Together: Protecting Family Unity in Migration side event, “Stronger Together: Protecting Family Unity in Migration Governance”, held at the UNICEF Headquarters in New York City.

This important dialogue, organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), UNICEF, IOM, Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), and the Migration Youth and Children Platform (MYCP), together with co-sponsors Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, and the UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants, highlighted the urgent need to protect family unity and uphold the dignity and rights of migrants worldwide.

The discussions reinforced that migration governance must remain people-centered, compassionate, and grounded in human rights and the launch of the GCM Family Unity Initiative marked an important step toward strengthening international collaboration and promoting policies that safeguard migrant children and families from separation, vulnerability, and discrimination.

We are grateful for the opportunity to engage with global leaders, diplomats, advocates, and international organizations working collectively toward policies that protect migrant families and ensure that no child or family is left behind.

🌍 United Voices For Global Impact (UVGI) is honored to participate in the Second International Migration Review Forum (IMRF), taking place at United Nations Headquarters in New York from May 5–8, 2026, preceded by an Informal Multistakeholder Hearing on May 4.

Convened under the leadership of the President of the UN General Assembly, the Forum brings together Member States, UN entities, and stakeholders to review progress in implementing the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) and help shape priorities for the next five years.

Established through intergovernmental agreement in 2018, the IMRF serves as the principal global platform to assess migration governance progress at local, national, regional, and global levels within the United Nations framework.

This second quadrennial Forum will include four interactive multi-stakeholder round tables, a policy debate, a plenary session, and will conclude with an intergovernmentally agreed Progress Declaration.

As a participating civil society organization, UVGI looks forward to engaging in these critical discussions, contributing to dialogue on rights-based and people-centered migration governance, and amplifying perspectives that advance dignity, inclusion, and shared responsibility.

Migration is not only a policy issue—it is a human story. We are proud to bring our voice to this important global process. 🇺🇳

When devastating floods struck Zomba District, Malawi, in March 2026, families in Traditional Authority Nkagula faced displacement, damaged homes, food insecurity, and immense hardship. In response, United Voices For Global Impact (UVGI) mobilized a community-based disaster relief effort to support vulnerable households in Ntima Village with essential relief assistance.

Through this emergency response, UVGI stood in solidarity with flood-affected families, helping address urgent needs while contributing to broader community relief efforts where support had been limited.

This intervention reflects our continued commitment to humanitarian action, community resilience, and supporting underserved populations during times of crisis. While immediate relief was provided, recovery continues—and needs remain for housing rehabilitation, livelihood restoration, and stronger climate disaster preparedness.

Together, we can advance resilience, dignity, and hope.
