Matched since February 2026, Ben recently shared his mentoring experience with Catholic Charities of New York, and we’re thrilled to see him featured in their Volunteer Spotlight!

Ben describes being a Big as incredibly rewarding, and we’re grateful for the time, care, and commitment he brings to his match with Little Brother, Elijah. Thank you, Ben, for making a difference!

As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, we’re recognizing the connections, stories, and relationships that bring our community together. ❤️ To close out our month-long celebration, we’re highlighting two of our Bigs & Littles matches who share a Hispanic background and the special bond they’ve built together. Their journeys are a reminder of how meaningful mentorship can be when built on trust, connection, and genuine friendship. We’re honored to share a glimpse into their stories. ✨
We’re grateful for the Bigs who show up with consistency, support, and encouragement, and for our Littles who allow us to be part of their journeys.

As we continue serving families in our community, we’re looking for bilingual Spanish-speaking volunteers to become Bigs and mentor youth in our program. Speaking both English and Spanish can help create a stronger connection between a Big, Little, and their family. We have young people waiting for a mentor who can meet them where they are.

💚 World Mental Health Day 💚
Today, we’re recognizing the importance of mental health and the power of having someone in your corner.
For young people, having a trusted adult who listens, encourages them, and shows up consistently can make a meaningful difference. Bigs create space for Littles to feel supported, build confidence, and know that they don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone.
At Bigs & Littles NYC, we believe every young person deserves a caring and supportive relationship that helps them feel seen, heard, and valued.
Let’s continue to prioritize mental health, meaningful connections, and the well-being of our communities.

On the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we honor the lives lost, the families and communities forever changed, and the courage of those who came together in the days that followed.

May we continue to remember, reflect, and carry forward that same spirit of compassion, unity, and hope.

🏃‍♀️👟Mark your calendars: Our 9th Annual 5K Run/Walk is back on September 19th!

This year, join us at Pier 81 with a route along Manhattan’s West Side Highway. After the 5K, join us for refreshments and a prize ceremony at Clinton Hall FiDi. And if running isn’t your thing, come hang with us at the Afterparty at Clinton Hal FiDi or consider making a donation!

This International Youth Day, we celebrate the power of mentoring and the meaningful relationships that help young people recognize their strengths, build self-confidence, and believe in their potential.

Through the support of caring mentors, 97% of youth demonstrated an increase in self-confidence, and 97% of youth and families reported feeling supported by their mentor.

Every connection matters. Every encouraging word matters. Every mentor who shows up helps create a foundation for young people to thrive.
