Earth Day isn’t just a celebration, it’s a battle. 🌎
While the world marks Earth Day this month, the Acampamento Terra Livre (ATL) reminds us that the struggle for the planet is inseparable from the struggle for Indigenous sovereignty.
This month in Brazil, the message was clear: territorial rights are under siege by corporate greed. Large corporations, including a surge of Canadian and US mining firms, are invading the last frontiers of preserved nature without consultation or respect for those who live there.
The Frontlines of Defense:
💧 Rivers: Threatened by agro-fascism seeking “soy corridors.”
🌳 Forests: Under pressure from timber export, monocultures, and cattle pasture.
⛰️ Land: Targeted for total mineral extraction.
🗣️ Voices: Even the truth is under threat from AI and social media that silence and confuse.
This isn’t a fight against technology or growth; it’s a fight against a model of “progress” that leaves nothing but dust behind. This Earth Day, the demand is firm: Our future is not for sale. ✊🏽
We don’t just need “green” talk, we need the demarcation of ancestral lands. Because when the forest stands, the planet breathes.
