Commemoration of the Entry of the Holy Family into Egypt Celebrated annually on June 1, this day has been selected to celebrate Coptic Day.
Egypt became a place of refuge for the Holy Family, making it the only country outside the Holy Land to receive Christ. The Holy Family lived in Egypt for approximately three and a half years traveling through various regions of the country before returning to their homeland after Herod’s death.
Over the centuries, numerous sites across Egypt became associated with their journey, forming what is now known as the Holy Family Trail. These locations reflect a rich historical and cultural heritage that has shaped Egypt’s identity and its place in Christian history.
Happy Global Coptic Day
“Blessed is Egypt My people.” (Isaiah 19:25)
