Every child deserves to begin the school year with confidence, and every hardworking student deserves the opportunity to pursue higher education.

The Coptic American Law Enforcement Organization (CALEO) is proud to launch our 2nd annual Egypt 2026 Book Bag Giveaway & Scholarship Program. Our goal is to provide 1,000 fully stocked backpacks to children in need across Egypt and award scholarships to deserving high school seniors as they prepare to continue their education.

President Lieutenant Mariana Zakhary, Director of Religious Affairs, Dr Reverend Fr. Mina Shaheid and Treasurer Aux Sergeant Sameh Eskaroas, were delighted to attend the Egyptian National Day reseption following a gracious invitation from the Consul General of Egypt, His Excellency Ambassador Tamer ElMiligy. The event brought together a prominent gathering of political and diplomatic figures, Consul Generals of various countries, representatives from the Mayor’s office and the New York City Police Department and religious and community leaders. The celebration beautifully reflected the rich Egyptian heritage, cuisine and authentic ambiance. The evening served as a powerful testament to Egypt’s longstanding diplomatic relations and its commitment to fostering dialogue, partnership, and mutual respect among nations and with the United States of America. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Consul General and the entire Consulate General staff for being such exceptionally warm and hospitable hosts. It was a true honor to join together to celebrate the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation. 🇪🇬✨

Some lives leave an imprint that time can never erase. Detective Steven McDonald’s is one of them.
The naming of the NYPD Police Academy in his honor is far more than the dedication of a building—it is a declaration of the values that should define every generation of police officers: courage, sacrifice, faith, compassion, and unwavering service.
When Detective McDonald was catastrophically wounded in the line of duty and left paralyzed, many would have understood if bitterness had become his legacy. Instead, he chose forgiveness. He extended grace to the young man who shot him and spent the rest of his life sharing a message that hatred never heals—but love, mercy, and hope can transform lives.
Though confined to a wheelchair, his spirit was never confined. He continued to serve with extraordinary purpose, encouraging police officers, young people, and communities across the nation to choose reconciliation over resentment, hope over despair, and service over self.
May every recruit who enters the Detective Steven McDonald Police Academy remember that the badge represents more than authority—it represents sacrifice, integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. May his life inspire them to protect with courage, lead with humility, and never lose sight of the humanity behind the uniform.

🇺🇸Today, as we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States, we proudly join our fellow Americans in honoring the enduring principles that have defined our nation since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
The Declaration's timeless affirmation that "all men are created equal" and are "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights" continues to inspire generations who seek liberty, justice, and opportunity.
As members of the Coptic American law enforcement community, these ideals hold special meaning. Many of our families came to the United States in search of the very freedoms proclaimed in 1776—the freedom to worship without fear, to live with dignity, and to contribute to a nation built on th rule of law.
Every day, Coptic American law enforcement officers proudly serve our communities by protecting the rights and freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution. Our commitment to integrity, service, and justice reflects both our faith and our gratitude to the nation that has given us the opportunity to thrive.
On this historic milestone, we celebrate not only America's past but also our shared responsibility to preserve the blessings of liberty for future generations.
Happy 250th Anniversary, America. May God continue to bless the United States of America, and may we always remain faithful to the principles of freedom, equality, justice, and opportunity that have made our nation a beacon of hope for the world.
