🌱 Celebrating National Intern Day — Honoring Sone Yay’s Young Leaders Who Refuse to Give Up Learning
On Thursday, July 30, National Intern Day, we join the global celebration of interns who bring their voices, energy, curiosity, and commitment to creating positive change.
At Sone Yay Foundation, this day carries a deeper meaning. Since 2023, we have welcomed 58 young leaders across four cohorts, including our current Summer 2026 4th Batch of the Project Management in Crisis Internship Program.
In the midst of a challenging environment where many young people have experienced disrupted education, limited opportunities, and increasing unemployment, our youth continue to choose a different path: they refuse to give up on learning, growth, and building their future.
During times of crisis, young people can become vulnerable to exploitation, including fraudulent opportunities and scam recruitment networks that take advantage of their hopes and uncertainty. Sone Yay strives to provide a safe learning space where youth can strengthen their skills, discover their potential, and move toward a path of purpose, responsibility, and positive contribution.
Through this internship journey, our interns are not only learning project management. They are developing strategic communication, critical thinking, ethical decision-making, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills—tools that help them make thoughtful choices for their lives and communities.
Many of our interns come from backgrounds as youth leaders, activists, community organizers, and humanitarian supporters. At Sone Yay, they take on meaningful roles and experience what it means to contribute to an organization’s development through the lens of project managers and leaders—learning how strong teams, effective systems, and responsible leadership create sustainable impact.
The qualities we celebrate today—curiosity, adaptability, collaboration, humility, and leadership—are the foundation of every changemaker.
Congratulations to all 58 Sone Yay interns. Your journey represents resilience, hope, and the power of young people who continue to learn, serve, and lead even during difficult times.
