Community Action of Skagit County’s vision is a community in which everyone works together to end poverty in Skagit County. Our mission is to stabilize lives, equip people for success and build a stronger more equitable Skagit County. Each individual and family has their own path to stability and success. With caring Community Action staff and our supporters and partners, we are able to provide immediate relief and long-term support to help seniors stay in their homes, veterans connect to the benefits they earned serving our country, young families access nutrition and developmental support for their babies, and under-resourced jobseekers re-enter the workforce with more skills and tools for success.

Katts Westside Stories is hosting their 8th Annual Warm Up the West Side event on November 8th at 11 a.m. The cold weather is approaching and anyone that needs essential items to stay warm this winter is welcome at their event. Any leftover items will be distributed around the community by our Street Outreach program!

Employees from the Burlington branch of Heritage Bank spent a half day cleaning up the grounds at the Skagit Food Distribution Center. They trimmed bushes, weeded, and beautified the landscape around the building, getting it ready for fall. This is part of a bigger event across Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, in which Heritage Bank employees volunteered more than 3,000 hours with 80 non-profit organizations. A big thank-you to Heritage Bank for sponsoring this event and helping improve our communities!

- Every Monday from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. In the WIC lobby
- 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at MVRC

🎉 Help us welcome Jareth Rodriguez to Community Action of Skagit County! 🎉

We’re excited to welcome Jareth as our new Director of Community Services, starting November 2!

Jareth joins us from Skagit Valley College, where he supported and led student programs focused on helping people access opportunities and achieve their goals. As a first-generation immigrant and college graduate, he understands the difference that access to resources, support, and opportunity can make in someone’s life.

At Community Action, Jareth will oversee WIC, Energy Assistance, the Food Distribution Center, Mobility & Senior Services, and Education & Employment. These programs play an important role in helping individuals and families overcome barriers, build stability, and create brighter futures.

We’re thrilled to have Jareth join our team and bring his thoughtful approach, collaborative spirit, and passion for empowering others to our work!
