Skagit Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Skagit Habitat for Humanity is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Get involved and help empower families to empower themselves at skagithabitat.com. EIN 91-1628529. Donations are tax-deductible. In 1994, local citizens formed Skagit Habitat for Humanity as the result of a critical need for affordable housing in Skagit County. In 2015, Skagit Habitat celebrated as the first Habitat family made the last payment on their mortgage, thereby owning their Habitat home in full. As of December 2022, 41 Habitat homes have been built in Skagit County and we look forward to building four more homes in 2023! Skagit Habitat has served over 81 families and 276 residents. We believe in empowering people to empower themselves through our mission: Putting God’s love into action, Skagit Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, community, and hope. With our help, Habitat Homebuyers achieve the strength, stability, and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.

We have a new volunteer role available at our Habitat Store in Mount Vernon: Appliance Tester! Help evaluate, clean, and prepare donated appliances for resale. Training is provided.

All new appliance testers will work hand in hand with our current testers before they are allowed to work on their own. You will be shown how to diagnosis and correct simple appliance issues as well as how to properly connect gas lines and electrical cords to appliances.

A working knowledge of gas and electricity is preferable but not required. Problem solving skills and basic computer knowledge are a must. You may be asked to:

Test all appliances by using established practices. We test all types of appliances here including natural gas, propane and appliances requiring 220v electricity.
Price all tested appliances using established pricing techniques.
Clean all tested appliances.

A huge shoutout to our incredible volunteers!

This Friday, they reached an exciting milestone at our three-home build site in La Conner by raising the very first wall! After capturing the moment, they jumped right back into framing and made even more progress on the home.

We couldn’t do this without the dedication, hard work, and heart of our volunteers. They’re keeping our La Conner build site buzzing with activity and our hearts full of gratitude.

A huge thank you to the donation of construction materials and high quality windows from Intracorp Homes (WA) it is such an asset to have these materials donated! An extra warm thank you to the volunteers that loaded, transported, and unloaded these heavy things! It was a couple days of very hard work that made a huge difference to the families buying these homes!

A huge thank you to the team at and Recycling! Thank you to everyone who donated your scrap metal through their "Donate at the Gate" program. We at Skagit Habitat are so grateful to be the recipient of the funds raised from July to the end of September through this awesome recycling program! ♻💙
