Every call to our 24-hour crisis hotline is answered with compassion, safety planning, information, and support. Whether someone is experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or is worried about a loved one, help is available.

One call can open the door to many forms of support.

A survivor may begin by contacting our hotline. From there, they might access emergency shelter, meet with a legal advocate, receive individual advocacy-based counseling, participate in a support group, or receive additional services tailored to their unique needs.

At SDVSAS, we believe survivors deserve access to safety, advocacy, information, and options so they can make the decisions that are right for themselves and their children.

Because healing, safety, and hope begin with support and every journey begins with a single step.

Your support helps bring visibility to an issue that touches far too many lives while honoring survivors, remembering those lost to domestic violence, and offering hope to those still seeking safety. We are grateful to stand alongside community partners who help ensure survivors know they are seen, valued, and never alone.

A community is strongest when neighbors invest in one another.

Today, we are celebrating and thanking the Puget Sound Energy Foundation for a generous $5,000 grant award supporting the work of SDVSAS.

This investment helps strengthen our emergency domestic violence shelter and the supportive services that provide safety and stability for survivors and families in Skagit County. Many arrive with little more than what they can carry, uncertain what tomorrow will bring for themselves and their children. Alongside a safe place to stay, survivors access advocacy, support groups, assistance navigating legal systems and community resources, and practical support to help meet essential needs while planning for the future.

Whether helping a family settle into shelter, assisting a survivor in pursuing employment, connecting someone with vital resources, or working toward long-term stability, these services help create pathways toward lasting safety and stability. For many survivors, emergency shelter is the first step in rebuilding a future free from violence, making this program a vital resource within our community.

We are grateful for partners like the Puget Sound Energy Foundation who recognize that stronger, more resilient communities begin with meeting people where they are and ensuring they have the support needed to move forward.

October is DVAM (Domestic Violence Awareness Month)
When people think about domestic violence services, what comes to mind first?

For most, the answer is either emergency shelter or safety planning. And while safety is critical, support doesn't stop there.

Survivors are often navigating challenges that affect every part of daily life:

These needs are connected. When survivors have the support they need, they're better able to rebuild stability for themselves and their families.

🟣 October 2026 is officially Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Skagit County! 🟣

Today, the Skagit County Commissioners formally proclaimed October 2026 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, reaffirming our community's commitment to supporting survivors and preventing domestic violence.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Commissioners for recognizing the importance of this issue and helping elevate awareness throughout our county.

Thank you as well to everyone who joined us in attendance. Your presence sends a powerful message that survivors are not alone and that our community stands together in support of safety, dignity, and hope.

Throughout October, we invite our community to wear purple, start conversations, learn about the impact of domestic violence, display a purple porch light as part of Purple Light Nights nationwide, and join us in creating a future free from violence.

What a fantastic way to welcome October!

Thank you to for hosting another great Oyster Run Pre-Party and for inviting Skagit DVSAS to be part of the day. We were honored to share information about Purple Light Nights and recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month with the community before October officially arrived.

From manning the grills and serving BBQ lunch to connecting with supporters throughout the day, we had an incredible time. Most importantly, the event helped raise critical dollars that support lifesaving services for survivors right here in our community.

We are grateful for Cobra Cycles' ongoing partnership and look forward to continuing this meaningful work together.
