We loved being able to sponsor an in-person all staff meeting last week for our wonderful and compassionate hospice staff. Truly grateful for each and every one of them! 🥰

Look at all these smiling faces! 📸

On Wednesday, the entire Hospice of the Northwest team gathered to celebrate our recent successes and collaborate at our all-staff interdisciplinary meeting.

We know that excellent care requires a whole team. From our physicians, nurses, care aides, and social workers to our spiritual care counselors, administrative staff, and incredible volunteers—every single member of our team is dedicated to supporting our patients and their families with compassion and dignity.💛

Flags in the Garden – Honoring those who served.

This Memorial Day, our Flag Garden honored 1,694 veteran patients, each flag representing a life of service and sacrifice. Through programs like We Honor Veterans, every Veteran in the care of Hospice of the Northwest is seen, valued, and honored.

Veteran volunteers connect with patients through shared experiences of service, sacrifice, and resilience. Through the HNW volunteer program, veterans visit veteran patients and lead pinning ceremonies to honor military service, where patients receive the recognition they may never have received

Last year, we held a pinning ceremony for David, who served in Vietnam. Like many veterans of that era, David never received the welcome home or recognition he deserved when he returned from war.

Fifty years later, we presented David with military honors, expressing the gratitude our nation owed him. "It meant everything," his daughter said through tears. "He finally heard someone say ‘thank you’."

Thanks to our donors and community supporters, veterans like David receive specialized, no-cost care rooted in understanding, honor, and empathy, ensuring we can always honor their lives and legacies.

If you're a veteran interested in volunteering, or if you have a veteran family member who might benefit from our We Honor Veterans program, please call (360) 814-5700.

Please note an important change for 2026: the Ports of Call Gala will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge. Our Spring 2026 Edition of the Aspirations Newsletter is coming soon!

Here is a preview of what's inside:

Jess & Cindy’s Story: Compassion Delivered Home
Read about how community generosity brought life‑changing relief to Jess and Cindy on Whidbey Island. Instead of 10‑hour ER visits and exhausting ferry rides, donor‑funded paracentesis allowed Jess to receive care right at home. Cindy says it best: “I don’t feel like we’re alone anymore.” Donor support made that possible.

2025 Impact: What You Made Possible
Hospice of the Northwest Foundation donors helped raise nearly $1 million last year, ensuring zero patients were ever turned away. From 36,735 patient visits to more than 2,000 hours of grief support, your generosity powered integrative therapies, volunteer vigils, and thousands of reassuring tuck‑in calls and much more. This is your impact in action.
