This week we highlight Steven Dolmatz! He joined the board in 1998, the founding year of SRPF. He has served on the music committee since 1999, the Festival Poet selection committee since 2002, and multiple terms as Board President. Musician, poet, teacher, and so much more, Steven brings his heart to all he does, be it writing poetry, enthusiastically recommending new books, performing with his band Delta Promenade, managing the bar at SRPF events, or steering board meetings with wisdom and insight. Thank you Steven for all you do!

What do some of the past faculty have to say about the Chuckanut Writers Conference?

📚"It was a wonderful conference. The tone set for the weekend was perfection--inspiring and supportive. It was a delight to be part of all the fun!"
Kira Jane Buxton, 2025 faculty

📚"The vibe was relaxed, conversational, and about investing our time in learning. It was never frenetic or consumed with too much social energy. The Chuckanut conference felt like a community."
- Juan Carlos Reyes, 2025 faculty

📚"The word I kept hearing was "inspired"--everyone seemed so happy to be there."
- Lyanda Lynn Haupt, 2025 faculty

Visit chuckanutwritersconference.com to see which authors are presenting this year, as well as to register! And as always, stay tuned for updates about presenters, sponsors, schedule of events, and more.

Here is an interview with Jim Haba, shared by Michael Daley, who said "Jim Haba, who produced and hosted 12 biennial Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festivals (from1986-2008) spoke a few months ago about what audiences need from poetry readings. He also emphasized the importance of embodying poetry in the writing process and beyond. I especially enjoyed the poems Jim read and his comments about getting ourselves out of the way so poetry can move through us."

Thank you Michael!
