At Pedal Power, nothing matters more than our students and their safety.
Almost ten years ago, we paused on a ride to climb this wall together and stand beneath this banner, united in what it represented. The people in this photo are still some of our favorite people today.
We started Pedal Power to teach Minneapolis kids how to ride bikes. But what we’ve seen over the years is so much bigger than that. When a child learns to ride, they gain more than balance, they gain confidence. They begin exploring their neighborhoods with a new sense of empowerment and freedom. And with that empowerment comes a stronger sense of belonging within their community.
We’ve witnessed empathy in action and what it means when young people learn to look out for one another. From a scraped knee to the first time a student completes a ride, we’ve seen kids from every background cheer each other on, double back when someone needs help, and celebrate every victory, big and small. We’ve watched diverse groups of students and families show up for each other with empathy, courage, and care.
We teach biking, but what we believe in is the power of community.
We stand strongly for all of our students. And we are proud of our state for standing with our immigrant communities and coming together to protect each other. 💚💚💚
