We're looking forward to giving Imani Winds a warm Minnesota welcome when they join us for our collaborative concert next month! Continuing a strong tradition of partnerships with ensembles such as The King's Singers, The Swingles, Canadian Brass, and Chanticleer, we're excited for an incredible concert experience blending our voices with their bold, genre-defying sound.

The concert features two newly commissioned works, “My Ancestors Speak” by Pulitzer Prize finalist Alex Weiser and “Left” by 2022 Hermitage Greenfield Prize winner Angélica Negrón, alongside repertoire that highlights a global array of musical traditions and voices.

Cantus is excited to announce the next two winners of our biennial Commission Competition, Ernesto Herrera and Dayton Hare!

Each composer will participate in a year-long mentorship process with the ensemble around a 3-5 minute commissioned work for Cantus and the broader community of tenor/bass choirs. Once their pieces are completed, Cantus will offer a world premiere for each work on a future program. Locations and concert inclusion of both works will be announced as they are scheduled.
