Crimes Against Children Task Force
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the official formation of the Crimes Against Children Task Force, a joint investigative initiative between the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office and the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office focused solely on crimes involving child victimization and exploitation.
The development of the Crimes Against Children Task Force has been an area of focus for several months as Sheriff Brad Ellison, Sergeant Tyler Sizemore, Sheriff James “Boomer” Muncy, and Deputy Brent Cline worked collaboratively to establish this much-needed regional partnership.
The task force will be operated by Sergeant Tyler Sizemore of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Brent Cline of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators assigned to the task force will work across county lines and jurisdictions to provide a coordinated and seamless investigative response for cases involving crimes against children by working closely with Stop The Hurt Child Advocacy Center, WV DoHS, and other community resources to ensure the best outcomes possible for our most vulnerable community members, our children.
The mission of the Crimes Against Children Task Force is to strengthen investigative efforts, improve interagency cooperation, enhance digital forensic and investigative capabilities, and ensure child victims and their families receive a professional, thorough, and trauma-informed response.
In addition to strengthening services already provided by both agencies, the task force will actively pursue grant funding opportunities and additional funding sources to further expand investigative capabilities, training, technology, and victim-centered services throughout the region.
Sheriff Ellison stated, “Protecting children will always remain one of the highest priorities of this office. This task force represents a major step forward in ensuring these investigations receive the attention, coordination, and resources they deserve.”
Additional information regarding task force operations, community outreach efforts, and future initiatives will be released at a later date.
