On Thursday, June 11th, our deputies had a fantastic time visiting the Bayou Vista Community Center to put on a special demonstration for the kids' summer camp!

Deputy Johnson kicked things off by giving the campers a great overview of Eylaโ€™s extensive training and explaining just how important her work is to our daily operations here at the SMPSO.

A huge shoutout to K9 Deputy Ledet for stepping up as the decoy! The campers were absolutely fascinated by the protective bite sleeve and loved learning about the gear that keeps our handlers safe during these high-intensity training exercises.
Thank you so much to the summer camp for the invitation! We always enjoy getting out into the community, sharing what we do, and spending time with the kids.

Desoto Parish Sheriff's Office
Please join Sheriff Jayson Richardson and the entire DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office in congratulating Deputy Jonathan Norwood on his graduation this morning from the Shreveport Regional Training Academy! The academy is a demanding 16-week program designed to prepare future law enforcement officers for the challenges and responsibilities of serving their communities. Of the 12 cadets who began the 95th class, only 6 walked across the stage during today's graduation ceremony.
In addition to graduating, Deputy Norwood was honored with the Fi****ms Award, recognizing his proficiency and dedication in one of the most critical aspects of law enforcement. Safe and accurate fi****ms handling is an essential skill for every deputy, and this award reflects the hard work and commitment he demonstrated throughout the academy.
Deputy Norwood will now begin his career with the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office Patrol Division, where he will continue his training and proudly serve the citizens of DeSoto Parish.
Congratulations, Deputy Norwood, and welcome to the DPSO family! We also want to extend a congrats to all graduates on their accomplishment today!

๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ Community starts with connection.
A special thank you to Cpl. Raymond Smith, Deputy Amanda Ashcraft, and Deputy Michael Woods for representing the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriffโ€™s Office as they visited local daycares to spend time with some of our youngest citizens.
Through fun, presentations and conversations, they helped children learn about law enforcement, safety, and the important role deputies play in our community. More importantly, they built positive relationships and showed these children that deputies are friendly faces they can trust.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office
Deputies Recognized for Heroic Efforts
Today, Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to proudly recognize three Terrebonne Parish Sheriffโ€™s Office Deputies who were honored by University Medical Center for their life-saving actions during the 2026 Mardi Gras season.
While working parade security, the Deputies responded to a young girl who suffered a serious injury after falling from a flatbed trailer. The fall resulted in a deep laceration to her leg and significant blood loss. Drawing upon their training and remaining calm under pressure, the Deputies quickly rendered aid and applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding until emergency medical personnel arrived.
Their actions exemplified the importance of the โ€œStop the Bleedโ€ initiative, which equips first responders and members of the public with the skills needed to intervene during life-threatening bleeding emergencies.
We are happy to report that the young patient made a full recovery, and her outcome serves as a testament to the Deputiesโ€™ quick thinking, training, and commitment to protecting the citizens of Terrebonne Parish.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriffโ€™s Office congratulates these deputies on this well-deserved recognition and thanks them for their dedication, professionalism, and service to our community.
โ€œWhen seconds matter, training saves lives. These Deputies demonstrated exactly why preparedness and decisive action are so important,โ€ said Sheriff Tim Soignet. โ€œWe are proud of their efforts and grateful for the positive outcome in this case.โ€
