🎃👻 Spooky Season Alert from the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad! 🚑✨

As our neighborhood streets fill with little ghosts, superheroes, and trick-or-treaters this Halloween 🏃‍♂️🦖🦸‍♀️, our crews want everyone to get home safely. Drivers 🚗, our volunteer medics 🩺 are asking you to slow down 🛑 and stay extra sharp out there! 👁️

Here is how you can keep our community safe on Halloween night:

• Slow down in neighborhoods: 🦺 Drop your speed below the limit in residential areas where kids might dart out from between parked cars. 🚗💨

• Put the phone down: 📱🚫 No texts, calls, or notifications while driving. Keep 100% of your focus on the road.

• Watch for dark costumes: 🧛‍♂️ Many kids wear black or dark clothing. Turn your headlights on early (at dusk) 💡 and scan both sidewalks constantly.

• Expect the unexpected: 🍬 Kids are excited, distracted, and may not look both ways before stepping off the curb. Yield to all pedestrians at crosswalks and intersections. 🚶‍♂️

• Drive sober: 🍻 If your Halloween plans involve adult refreshments, arrange a designated driver, rideshare, or cab before the night begins. 🚕

This month, we honor the visionary trailblazers, historic milestones, and courageous individuals who have fought for equality, visibility, and justice. Within the first responder community, LGBTQ+ firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and dispatchers have always been here—serving on the front lines, saving lives, and working tirelessly to keep our neighborhoods safe.

But wearing the uniform shouldn't mean hiding who you are. We know that public safety professionals face unique stressors, and finding a safe, understanding space to talk is vital.
