Every survivor deserves to be seen, heard, and supported.

During Pride Month, LAWS recognizes that LGBTQ+ individuals can face unique barriers when seeking safety, support, and healing from domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

🌈 Building safer communities means ensuring that every survivor knows they belong, every voice is valued, and every person has access to the resources they need without fear of judgment or discrimination.

Support, respect, and safety are rights that belong to everyone.

This Pride Month, join us in creating a community where every survivor can find hope, healing, and a path forward.

This month, LAWS recognizes Pride Month, National Gun Violence Awareness Month, and Men's Mental Health Awareness Month. While each observance highlights unique experiences and challenges, all are connected by a shared goal: creating safer, healthier communities where every person can thrive.

Throughout June, we'll share resources, prevention education, and survivor stories while exploring the ways these important issues intersect with domestic violence and sexual assault.

Together, we can build a community where every person feels safe, supported, and empowered.

As May comes to a close, we recognize Affordable Housing Month and the critical role safe housing plays for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

For many survivors, finding safe and affordable housing is one of the biggest barriers to escaping abuse and rebuilding their lives.

At LAWS, we see every day how emergency shelter, transitional housing assistance, and housing support help survivors and their children move from crisis to safety and stability.

Housing is more than a place to live. It is safety. It is hope.

May is . 🏠 For domestic violence survivors, having access to safe, affordable housing can save their lives.

Unfortunately, a lack of housing options across the country means that survivors are often faced with impossible choices between abuse and homelessness.

Federal funding supports housing for survivors, but ongoing delays to this funding put survivors in danger. Take action NOW and tell Congress to address these dangerous funding delays: https://buff.ly/OyFNQiN

The staff at LAWS have completed the Loudoun Coalition on Women and Girls' Annual Community Survey, and we encourage you to add your voice as well.

For the past five years, women across Loudoun have shared valuable insights on community safety, mental health, access to support services, and other issues impacting women and girls. Those voices have helped shape important conversations, inform community programs, and drive meaningful action.

At LAWS, we believe that listening to the experiences and perspectives of women and girls helps build a stronger, safer community for everyone. If you have not yet completed the survey, there is still time.

Take the survey by June 7th: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/F6ZTMG5

Your voice matters.

We’ve extended the deadline. Responses are now due June 7.

Women lead. Women shape. Women know what our community needs. Please take a moment to complete and share.

Your voice matters. Help us continue this important work by completing this year’s survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/F6ZTMG5

We are incredibly grateful to be one of the 51 nonprofits that 100WomenStrong of Loudoun County, Virginia supported in its recent round of grant funding! 🙏

The $25,000 grant for LAWS was one of the most generous provided in this year’s giving. We commend founder Karen Schaufeld’s thoughts on the interconnectivity of these services:

“If someone lacks stable shelter, they may also be facing health or mental health challenges, food insecurity, or barriers to education. When you help someone in one of these areas, you are often improving outcomes in many others as well.”

Thank you, 100WomenStrong! 🙌
