The Arc of Loudoun The Arc of Loudoun is a lifelong partner for people with disabilities and their families, providing services, education, advocacy, and therapy.

We serve as a regional hub for support through three Centers of Excellence, reaching 5,000+ people each year. Founded in 1967, The Arc of Loudoun advocates for, educates, serves, and supports people with disabilities and their families, serving more than 7,000 people each year including people with disabilities, their families, caregivers, educators, advocates; Arc volunteers; Veterans; members of the law enforcement, first responder and judicial system communities. At The Arc of Loudoun, we believe in creating a just and equitable world for people with disabilities—and we work toward that goal every day through our three core centers:

Ability Fitness Center – Promoting strength and mobility through fitness-based therapy
ALLY Advocacy Center – Empowering individuals and families through advocacy and support
The Aurora School – Providing specialized education for students with developmental disabilities

With more than 24,000 people with disabilities in Loudoun County, our work is far from done. But with your support, we can continue building a more inclusive community—one where everyone belongs.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and this year's theme is "Celebrating Value and Talent." 🎉

People with disabilities bring skills, experience, and perspective to every workplace, yet only 40.3% of working-age people with disabilities are employed, compared with 75% of people without disabilities. The problem isn't a lack of talent. It's barriers like bias, inaccessible hiring processes, and too few opportunities.

This post from The Arc of the United States covers why disability employment matters, what workplace accommodations really cost (often nothing!), and practical ways employers can build more inclusive workplaces.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), and this year’s theme is "Celebrating Value and Talent." People with disabilities bring skills, creativity, and perspective that strengthen every workplace. Yet, hiring barriers and bias still shut many out. Only about 38% of people with disabilities are employed, compared to 75% of those without disabilities. This month is a chance to raise awareness, challenge bias, and promote inclusive practices that benefit everyone.

Join us in sharing a warm welcome to Allison Branick, The Arc of Loudoun’s newest board member!

Allison Branick has been a long-time Loudoun County resident, serving in a variety of roles within Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS). Her experience spans both self-contained classrooms and inclusive settings, where she provided specialized instruction and support to students within the general education environment. For the past six years, Allison has worked as an Educational Diagnostician with LCPS. In this role, she collaborates closely with school psychologists, social workers, educators, and families to evaluate students suspected of having educational disabilities, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while helping students access the services and supports they need to succeed.

Allison’s interest in joining the Board of The Arc of Loudoun stems from her deep commitment to serving individuals with disabilities and their families. Supporting people with diverse abilities has been a defining focus of both her professional and personal life. Through her board service, Allison hopes to further advance opportunities, advocacy, and inclusion for individuals with disabilities throughout the Loudoun County community.
