While most of us were enjoying a warm summer evening, Crew 2 was putting in the work — practicing with the pump and hose line to keep their skills sharp.

Firefighting is a team sport, and getting water from the truck to the fire takes more than simply pulling a hose off the rig. Crews have to work together to position the apparatus, establish a water supply, operate the pump, stretch hose lines and deliver the right amount of water where it’s needed — often while working in heat, smoke, darkness and stressful conditions.

The goal of training is simple: make the important things second nature before they’re needed for real.

So the next time you see our crews training around town, know that it’s not just practice. It’s preparation for the moment someone in our community needs us most.

And honestly… a summer evening with a hose line beats sitting in a classroom. 😉
