2016 Laurels Scholar Ngozi Dumebi Akingbesote, Ph.D., recently shared valuable findings from her research on therapeutic responses in breast cancer models, specifically triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), with Laurels and other Laurels Scholars.

Ngozi shared how SGLT2 inhibitors can "starve" cancer cells by cutting off their sugar supply, thereby making chemotherapy more effective for treating TNBC.

A key takeaway: is a 💪 powerful cancer tool. Regular aerobic improves metabolism, reduces inflammation, and even helps the immune system target cancer more effectively.

Congratulations and thanks for the kind words, Sumeet!

Excited to learn from our 2026 Laureate Doug Fabbioli!

It's that time of year, Loudoun growers. Spring brings a lot of questions and we're getting together to work through them side by side. Come join us at Stone Tower Winery for a relaxed, hands-on conversation about what's happening in the vineyard right now. Kendra Baumgartner will be guiding the discussion through two topics that are top of mind for so many of us this season:
- Freeze & frost injury — how to spot it and what to do about it
- Vine retraining: weighing the when, the why, and the what-ifs

No matter where you are in the process — still assessing damage or already thinking long-term — this is the kind of conversation that's better had together, out in the vines.
