In this clip, Dr. Carl June, often called the "father of CAR-T cell therapy," explains that the name comes from a chimera, a mythical creature made up of different parts.

It's a fitting comparison because CAR-T cells combine different parts of the immune system into one engineered cell designed to do a specific job.

As CAR-T research continues to expand into autoimmune diseases, including myositis, understanding the basics can help all of us better follow the science and the progress being made.
