Over the last few years, I took the time to go through the stack of gift cards that had accumulated in my purse and kitchen drawers. One afternoon I called the number on the back of the cards to find out how much was still available on each card. $5, $2, $4 and so on, which made me think, what could I do with this little bit of money if I added the amounts together.
Cut to Gift Card Redo! The purpose of this business is to use these gift cards to stock area food banks and to buy toiletries, clothing, and other items for local shelters.
The plan is to keep a spreadsheet of the amounts of all of the gift cards that I receive and to use the money to help those in need on a quarterly basis.
This is an evolving effort, but I am so excited to get the word out and hopefully start receiving unused gift cards in the mail! My business is registered with the state of Virginia and has a tax ID number. Every bit of the money from the gift cards will go towards area food banks and shelters.
