Sometimes teamwork looks like a perfectly coordinated plan. Other times, it looks like charting on the floor with a bin of blankets for a desk. 😂🐾

That's exactly the kind of everyday veterinary magic captured in our 2026 Teams@Work Photo Contest winning photo!

Congratulations to Pine Creek Animal Hospital and Brie Smoker, CVT, who perfectly captured the multitasking, improvisation, and patient-first dedication veterinary teams know all too well. 💚

Swipe to celebrate our winner, runners-up, and all the incredible teams who shared their photos with us!

Your next great team member may already be on your payroll.

Helping employees grow into new skills and responsibilities takes more than assigning a training module and hoping it sticks.

Stop Hiring, Start Building is a 3-hour Beyond Medicine Workshop designed to help veterinary teams create a more intentional approach to employee development through training, coaching, mentorship, clear expectations, and consistent feedback.

Some of the most important work in a veterinary hospital happens where clients never see it. 💙

It's the veterinary technician carefully monitoring a patient under anesthesia. The one examining a sample under the microscope. The one who notices a subtle change in a patient's condition or takes the time to make sure a pet owner understands their animal's care.

These moments require knowledge, technical skill, critical thinking, and compassion. And they're just a small part of what veterinary technicians bring to their teams every day.

As comes to a close, here's a reminder: Veterinary technicians deserve more than one week of appreciation. Their expertise, contributions, and dedication deserve recognition all year long.

To the veterinary technicians doing this work every day, we see you. 💙

A title represents more than a job. It represents the education, training, and expertise behind it. 💙

Veterinary technicians work hard to earn their credentials, and protecting their professional title is one way to recognize that commitment.

Title protection also helps pet owners understand the qualifications of those caring for their animals and supports clearer roles within the veterinary team.

This , we're standing behind the professionals who have earned the veterinary technician title.

Does your team know whether a client has insurance coverage before the cost-of-care conversation begins?

If that information isn’t captured consistently, practices can miss claims, spend more time navigating financial conversations, and overlook benefits that may already be available to support patient care.

Join Jennifer Abitino and Lauren Olavessen, DVM, on Oct. 22 for Cost of Care Conversations: How Technology Can Improve Patient Care and Practice Health.

They’ll explore practical ways technology can help teams identify and document coverage earlier in the client journey, create more consistent workflows, and support clearer conversations around care.

Some veterinary technicians care for patients. Others inspire the next generation of veterinary professionals. Dani Alvarez does both. 💜

🎉 Meet AAHA's 2026 Veterinary Technician of the Year: Daniela "Dani" Alvarez, RVT, FVTE, CPEP, of Modern Animal in Los Angeles!

Dani is known for her compassionate patient care and her passion for helping others grow. She shares her knowledge, creates hands-on learning opportunities, and makes everyone around her feel supported.

Her nominator, Roxy, first experienced Dani's exceptional care as a client. After becoming her colleague, she realized that same kindness and dedication extended to every patient. Dani's example even inspired Roxy to consider becoming a veterinary technician herself.

As we kick off National Veterinary Technician Week, help us congratulate Dani and celebrate the people who make veterinary medicine better every day! 🐾

🐾 Appreciation starts with utilization!

Happy National Veterinary Technician Week! 💙

Veterinary technicians bring valuable knowledge, skills, and compassion to patient care every day. One of the most meaningful ways practices can recognize their contributions is by empowering them to use those skills to their fullest potential.

Clear roles, standardized workflows, and thoughtful delegation help veterinary teams work more efficiently while supporting collaboration and high-quality patient care.

From initial assessments and anesthesia monitoring to client education and follow-up care, credentialed veterinary technicians play an essential role throughout the patient journey.

The 2023 AAHA Technician Utilization Guidelines offer a sample standardized workflow to help practices make the most of their teams' unique skills.

Creating a more cat-friendly veterinary experience doesn’t always require a major renovation. 🐈

Small changes can help reduce stress from the moment a cat arrives, including separating cats and dogs when possible, minimizing noise, providing carrier covers, creating comfortable exam spaces, and giving patients time to acclimate. Training teams to recognize feline body language and adjust when a cat is opting out can make a difference, too.
