The parents of the young gunmen who killed four students at Oxford High School in Oxford, Michigan are charged with involuntary manslaughter with their trial set to begin on Jan. 17. But now, the Michigan Supreme Court has intervened and delayed the proceedings indefinitely. What will this mean to the case against their son? We may find out soon.

The Michigan Supreme Court on Tuesday postponed the January trial for the parents of the teenager who killed four students at his high school, a victory for defense lawyers who argue that involuntary manslaughter charges don't fit.

The frequency of mass shootings in America should shock us all to the core. But it would seem that we are becoming desensitized to these horrific tragedies because they are so commonplace these days. We cannot let that happen.

This year is likely to be the second-highest year for mass shootings in the United States on record, according to data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit that tracks gun violence incidents across the country.
