Just a reminder: for rabbit health and safety, please commit to no smoking or va**ng (or aerosol scent spray) in the home! Rabbit lungs are especially delicate. We want everybunny to live a long and healthy life! ♥

It's probably no surprise, but smoking or va**ng around pets, especially rabbits, is a VERY bad idea.

Rabbits are very sensitive to strong smells. Smoke, va**ng, and strong scents such as incense and aerosol sprays, are extremely harmful to a rabbit's delicate respiratory system. Even if you can't smell it, they can smell it. But, if you can smell it, they can REALLY smell it. Ever been in public near someone who loaded up on way too much perfume? Think that, except it's overpowering, every day, in your home. Yikes!

We advocate for non-smoking, non-va**ng homes, as there are multiple examples of rabbits becoming ill with respiratory issues due to va**ng / smoking, even to the point of death...something so easily avoided. Please rethink having a rabbit in your home if this is a deal-breaker for you. We want the best for rabbits; they deserve nothing less! ♥

Who got neutered today? Jonah bunny! He also received his first RHDV2 booster (a 2-booster initial sequence, 21 days apart to protect against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease)! Thank you Dr. Tully and Southpaw Animal Clinic of Madison for treating him! We are so happy to announce that Jonah has a planned adoption! His mommy got updates about how he did today. 🩷

This tiny sweetheart is Puffin and she’s boarding with our rescue this week! 🩷 We do occasionally board bunnies with our fosters, space permitting, which helps fund our rescue bunny vet bills. If we’re full, we are happy to make suggestions for pet sitters and bunny boarding!

This is a wild bunny (Eastern Cottontail)! Domestic rabbits are so very different from these sweet bunnies. If you see a bunny who looks like the one pictured, nature is where that bunny belongs, however—if you see a plump, usually larger, differently colored rabbit, that bunny does not belong outside. Most of our foster rabbits come to us after being dumped outside, sadly.
In the past two weeks, we’ve seen a huge uptick in people wanting to rehome a pet rabbit, and reaching out to us for tips. This is a great victory—dumping is never the answer, and asking for help is so much better. We do everything we can to help, although our rescue is very full and too full to directly take in owner surrenders currently (as are most rescues).
