The SJB Bosom Buddies meet at 6 p.m. on the 4th Tues. of the month (Jan. - Oct.) Meetings are in the Community Rm usually, 2nd floor at CCI.

Anyone touched by Breast Cancer is welcome to join the group for light refreshments, speakers and fellowship.

We all had a great time at our October BC Month Pampering meeting last night. Many Thanks to Monica with Mary Kay, the Fairy Hair Sisters, Therapy Achievements, Heavens Hidaway Wellness and Spa, Huntsville Balloons, and the Awesome Team at CCI that pulled the evening all together for us (and painted fingernails!)

REMINDER
The October Bosom Buddy meeting will be Tuesday night, Oct. 27. We meet in the Community Room on the 2nd floor from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Social time is 5:30 pm and dinner is at 6:00. Don’t forget, the October meeting is our Annual Pampering meeting for October BC Awareness. Please don't wear nail polish in case we have a nail painting station, and you wish to participate.

Surviving and Thriving’s next Apron Social and Paint Party is Tuesday, November 10th, 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, at 109 Governors Drive SW, Classroom 119B. Join us for an evening of creativity, connection, and fun as we gather to paint aprons and enjoy time together. As always, a light meal will be provided. Reminder............for Tonight!

The August meeting will be Tuesday night, August 24. Sharon and Brenda from Kerley’s Special Touch will be speaking at the meeting. They will be talking about bras, forms, prosthesis and what insurance companies allow.

Thank you to Jillian Kinzel, PA at CCI, who discussed many issues related to skin care at our July meeting.

For the July meeting, Jillian Kinzel will talk about skin care. Jillian is a Physician Assistant at CCI.
The July meeting will be Tuesday night, July 28. We will be meeting in the Community Room on the 2nd floor from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Social time is 5:30 pm and dinner is at 6:00.

Also, Bosom Buddies has been invited to participate in the Ride for Kam Exotic Car Rally on Saturday, August 22, 2026. The group will depart from CCI at 8:00 AM, travel to Guntersville, and return to Whitt Family Park (the former Joe Davis Stadium) for lunch and a car show. The event is expected to end around 4:00 PM. You do not have to stay the entire time, but if you drove and parked at CCI you must arrange for someone to pick you up at Whitt Family Park. If you want to attend, please contact Barbara Garrison at (256) 683-3916 to sign up — do not call anyone else. Registration closes on August 3, 2026.

Great article from CURE magazine (a free quarterly magazine for any cancer patient!) I've never personally seen anyone 'lose' a battle with cancer, even when they pass away from it - those with later stages of cancer always go through so very much in treatments, surgeries and clinical trials. They deserve better language to honor their Herculean efforts, or as the article says, just say they were
loved and will be missed...

Thank You to Patty Stutts and Jennifer Lord for speaking to the Buddies at our recent meeting. Both speakers are CCI social workers and are breast cancer survivors also. We had a group discussion about body image and sexuality after cancer treatments, and included joint pains, hair loss, caregivers, menopausal symptoms, and Lots more.
