The Buddies celebrated their 40th birthday last Tues. We were happy to see faces we'd not seen in a while, and also had a big group of our 'regulars'. There were two tables full of albums with news clippings and pictures, plus misc memorabilia from past events, to take a trip down memory lane with. We had a feast from Olive Garden (Thank you, CCI) and extras brought by our members. We also sang Happy Birthday before we cut our cake. Julie read a history of the group and a bio of Sandy Bryant. For those who couldn't be there the history/bio is included below.

April marked the 40th (!!) Anniversary of the SJB Bosom Buddy Support Group, and we’ll be celebrating this milestone at our May meeting. For four decades, the Bosom Buddies - a group started by Sandy Bryant RN, have been offering support to women (and a few men) diagnosed with breast cancer. Julie will bring scrapbooks chronicling the group’s history, along with photos from many community events over the years. Please wear PINK for this special occasion. Come join us for fellowship and some birthday cake : )

The May meeting will be held Tuesday, May 26, in the Community Room on the 2nd floor from 6:00–8:00 pm, with social time at 5:30 and dinner at 6:00. To help with meal planning, let us know by May 23 if you’ll be attending.

Rep. Frances Holk-Jones' personal experience with breast cancer and costly follow-up tests inspired legislation that removes financial barriers for diagnostic imaging across Alabama.

The Pink Elephant Auction was so much Fun last night! Thanks to CCI for dinner and the meeting room, and thanks to the middle school that donated blankets. The Bosom Buddies treasury netted $330 - so, much Thanks to everyone who joined us, bought monopoly money, and brought interesting items to auction.

We’re excited to invite you to our next Apron Social and Paint Party on Tuesday, April 7th, 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, at 109 Governors Drive SW, Classroom 119B. Join us for an evening of creativity, connection, and fun as we gather to paint aprons and enjoy time together. As always, a light meal will be provided.

Whether you’ve joined us before or this will be your first time, we’d love for you to come, relax, and enjoy an evening surrounded by friendship and encouragement. Please RSVP by April 2nd so we can plan for food and supplies. We look forward to spending this special evening with you!

REMINDER

Our March meeting is our annual “Pink Elephant Auction.” This is our annual fund raiser, so come prepared with your auction item(s) and it is the only place where $10 = $10,000 bidding bucks. You don’t want to miss this meeting – it is so much fun! Be sure to bring items for auction that are gently used or new. If you can’t decide what to do with something, an item you just can’t throw away or have a place for – bring it on! Exchange your real money for auction money to bid on items.
