📢 AUTISM FAMILIES — PLEASE READ THE DETAILS BEFORE YOU APPLY!
You may have seen posts circulating saying that families affected by autism can receive a grant of up to $5,000 through Autism Care Today (ACT). This is a real grant program, but we want families to understand how the program actually works, what the funding may cover, and what “up to $5,000” really means.
💙 WHAT IS AUTISM CARE TODAY?
Autism Care Today provides financial assistance to families throughout the United States who are affected by autism. Grants are intended to help families access qualifying treatments, assessments, and needed life supports.
💰 HOW MUCH CAN A FAMILY RECEIVE?
ACT states that grants typically range from $100 to $5,000, depending on the family’s need, the request, and available funding.
⚠️ This does NOT mean every approved family receives $5,000.
Another important detail: grant funds are generally paid directly to the approved provider, assessor, or vendor — not given to the family as cash.
📋 WHAT MAY THE GRANT HELP WITH?
Depending on ACT’s review and approval, funding may be considered for:
❤️ Effective treatments
❤️ Assessments
❤️ Needed life supports
❤️ Other qualifying autism-related requests
Because funding is based on ACT’s review, families should not assume that every autism-related expense will automatically qualify.
💵 WHAT ABOUT INCOME?
ACT gives priority consideration to families earning under $100,000 annually.
However, there is not a strict $100,000 income cutoff. A family earning more than $100,000 is not automatically disqualified. ACT considers factors including financial need, household income, the type of request, and family circumstances.
🚫 WHAT DOES THE GRANT NOT PAY FOR?
According to ACT’s published grant information, funding is not provided for:
❌ Cars or car repairs
❌ Transportation passes
❌ Airfare
❌ Rent or utilities
❌ Family vacations
❌ Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
📝 VERY IMPORTANT WHEN APPLYING
ACT instructs applicants to choose ONE treatment/support request on the application rather than submitting several different requests.
Applications may also remain in ACT’s system for two consecutive grant cycles, so an application that isn’t selected during the first cycle may still receive consideration during the following cycle.
ACT reviews applications based on factors including need, income, the type of request, and individual family circumstances, including households with multiple children diagnosed with ASD.
📄 BE PREPARED WITH DOCUMENTATION
Before applying, families should be prepared to provide documentation supporting the request. This may include documentation of the autism diagnosis/recommended treatment, the cost of the requested service or support, and household income information.

The flyer lists the next application period as:
October 1–31, 2026
Families are expected to be notified by December 20.
