Today we want to spotlight The Peanut House – Food To Thai For for their generosity during the 2025 SNAP / EBT disruption, and Yang Marketing Co LLC (Patrick Yang) for capturing their story on video.

Christine and Francis shared that “food is our love language.” When SNAP benefits stopped, they immediately thought about elders, kids, and families who suddenly couldn’t buy groceries and might not understand all the English notices. Even though they are a small business, they stepped up to cook hot meals so neighbors would not go hungry.

If you enjoyed their food during the SNAP Meal Drive, or simply want to support a caring local restaurant, please keep The Peanut House in mind the next time you’re craving Hmong & Thai food. Your support helps them continue doing this kind of quiet, behind-the-scenes giving.

Huge thanks again to:
• The Peanut House for cooking with love and serving our community with dignity
• Yang Marketing Co LLC (Patrick Yang) for using his skills to highlight Hmong and Asian-owned businesses and keep everyone informed

ALSO, the NC Hmong New Year starts tomorrow (Thu 11/27 – Sun 11/30).
If you see The Peanut House there, please stop by, say hello, and support them.

Today we want to spotlight Pho-Topia and Yang Marketing Co LLC for their kindness during the 2025 SNAP / EBT disruption.

Cindy, owner of Pho-Topia, is a Vietnamese single mother who has been quietly helping people in need long before she opened her restaurant. Even while running a busy shop, she stepped up to serve free meals to families who were struggling during this crisis. Her story is a reminder that our Hmong and non-Hmong Asian businesses stand together when it matters.

At Pho-Topia, everything is made from scratch with care – pho, bún bò Huế, eggrolls, spring rolls, chicken wings, fried rice, Vietnamese coffee, boba teas, smoothies, and more. If you enjoyed their food during the SNAP Meal Drive, or simply want to support a generous local business, please visit or follow them:

Today we want to spotlight Duck N Good Food Place for their generosity during the 2025 SNAP / EBT disruption, and Yang Marketing Co LLC for capturing their story on video.

Duck N Good is a long-time Hmong-owned restaurant in Hickory serving authentic Asian dishes – papaya salad, pad thai, pho, roast duck, stuffed wings, and more – all made with care and consistent quality.

Even as a busy, established business, they chose to stand with our community by helping feed families who were struggling and by supporting the NCHCC SNAP Food & Meal Drive. Their heart for service goes far beyond this crisis.

If you enjoyed their food during the drive, or just want to back a hardworking local Hmong business, please visit and support them:

And a big thank-you to Yang Marketing Co LLC for the video work that helps share what our Hmong businesses are doing for the community.

Please keep Duck N Good and Yang Marketing in mind the next time you are grabbing a meal or need marketing support. When we support businesses like theirs, we strengthen the whole community.

11/21/2025

Today we want to spotlight two amazing Hmong businesses that stepped up during the 2025 SNAP / EBT disruption:

Corner Treestone Kitchen – a newly opened Hmong-owned Asian-fusion restaurant in Hickory, NC – quietly opened their doors to share free meals with families who were struggling. Even as a young business, they chose to give first and ask nothing in return.

Yang Marketing Co LLC captured their story on video so our community could see the heart behind Corner Treestone Kitchen and the wider SNAP Meal Drive. His media work has helped amplify many Hmong businesses throughout this effort.

If you enjoyed Corner Treestone Kitchen’s food during the SNAP Meal Drive, or you simply want to support kind local businesses, please consider supporting them:

Today, as we close out the 2025 SNAP Food & Meal Drive, we want to give special thanks to Catawba Meat Processing (CMP).

Catawba Meat Processing quietly powered this entire effort behind the scenes by:

• Supplying more than a thousand pounds of quality chicken at a reduced cost for families in need

• Storing and refrigerating the meat safely until restaurants and volunteers were ready to cook and distribute it

• Coordinating pickups for Vinai The Hmong Supermarket and our partner kitchens during a very busy week

If you enjoyed the chicken meals during this drive, there is a good chance that chicken came through CMP.

About Catawba Meat Processing (CMP)
Catawba Meat Processing is a Hmong-owned meat processor serving the Catawba / Hickory area. They provide chicken and other meats for local restaurants, markets, and community events. To support them, look up “Catawba Meat Processing” online or ask your favorite Hmong restaurant if they already buy from CMP.

Thank you also to Patrick Yang and Yang Marketing Co LLC for filming and sharing this interview so our community can see the people and hard work behind the food.

As the government shutdown ends and SNAP / EBT benefits resume, NCHCC will continue focusing on our long-term mission of helping Hmong businesses grow so they, in turn, can keep serving our community. More updates will follow as we move from emergency response back into business support and planning for 2025.

NCHCC mission:
To connect and strengthen Hmong-owned businesses across North Carolina so we can grow together and build a stronger Hmong business front for our community.
