We build beds for children in need, ensuring that NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!®

10/15/2026

We have been invited to participate in the Startown Baptist Christmas Bazaar. And the reason we are excited about this is that we get to take one of our beds there and talk to people about Sleep in Heavenly Peace! The more people know about us, the more beds we get to deliver! They have also decided to share part of the bazaar proceeds with out chapter. More exposure for our chapter and more funding, this doesn't get much better.

We did it! We participated in Bunks Across America - a nationwide event to build beds from Sept 5 to Sept 12. Our chapter and the Morganton NC chapter partnered with the Lowe's store in Statesville, NC and we build 102 beds on Sept 10!

It was quite an event. Approximately 90 volunteers from Lowe's and their vendors worked with chapter members from Hickory and Morganton to make this happen. We started at 8 am and finished at 3 pm.

Bunks Across AMERICA

Our chapter has been selected to participate in the upcoming Bunks Across America event! We will partner with Lowe's in Statesville, NC. We had originally planned on building 50 beds with them, but as we met they got really excited and want to build 100 beds!

The event will take place on September 10th from 8am to 5pm in the Statesville Lowe's parking lot. Sleep in Heavenly Peace chapter members from Morganton, Hickory and Johnson City TN will be working with up to 100 volunteers from Lowe's and their partners to build 100 beds.

Bunks Across America is a nationwide event that takes place from September 5 through September 12. All 400+ chapters are encouraged to build beds during this week and thousands of beds will be built.

If you're going to deliver beds, you have to get them ready. When we participated in the 10,000 bed build in Charlotte in April sponsored by Lowe's, we got 100 beds for our chapter! Beds from that build went all over the country, many loaded into the big 53 foot trucks you see rolling down the Interstate. Our beds came from later in the build process when there was no longer time and stain left to complete the staining process. So now we have to stain those bed components. With the help of many volunteers, we have been working on those bed components to get them ready to deliver. Look at those smiling faces! Vanguard Furniture has graciously donated a truck for us to use for taking our tools to a build and a great covered area to use for working.

Our chapter has had the pleasure of delivering some beds! To date, we have delivered 11 beds and we have 5 more deliveries scheduled! It is impossible to describe in words the joy that we see in the children when they get their bed! Some families allow us to take pictures so we can post them here.

If you would like to help us keep making children in our community thrilled to get their beds - right now we need bedding. You can use the link on this page labeled "mindfulgiving.org" to shop at Amazon for bedding (a complete set of sheets, pillow cases, comforter or blanket) and when you purchase those, they will ship directly to us. Or you can purchase new bedding and reach out to us with the contact info listed on this page.

The Lowe's sponsored 24 hour bed build at the Charlotte Convention Center was spectacular! 2 people from our Hickory chapter worked the event. It was exciting and exhausting. Can't wait until next year! Over 6500 volunteers filled the convention center with 16 trains (production lines) working around the clock to meet our goal of 10,000 beds. Congratulations to all.
