The crew of USS Constitution joins the Navy and the nation in honoring the life and legacy of President Jimmy Carter—a fellow Sailor and a remarkable example of service, leadership, and integrity.

From his roots on a Georgia peanut farm to his time at the U.S. Naval Academy during World War II, President Carter’s life reflected courage, selflessness, and an unshakable moral compass.

His experiences in the Navy shaped a lifetime of service and a dedication to improving the world. These values continue to resonate with Sailors aboard USS Constitution and throughout the fleet, reminding us that even small actions can have a profound impact.

President Carter’s legacy endures in the halls of Carter Hall at the Naval Academy and aboard USS Jimmy Carter (SSN 23).

Fair winds and following seas, Shipmate. President Carter, we have the watch.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution joins the nation in mourning the passing of Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States of America. President Carter exemplified patriotism through his distinguished service as a Naval officer, his leadership as President, and his lifelong dedication to the principles of freedom and justice. His tireless efforts to promote human rights, peace, and community service inspired countless Americans to embrace civic engagement and serve their fellow citizens. Through his actions, he reminded us that patriotism is best demonstrated by working to better our nation and the world. We honor his legacy as a servant-leader and extend our deepest sympathies to his family and all who mourn his loss.
