Rotarians in action! This past Friday, we held our Great Day of Sharing Initiative, partnering with local food pantries to help restock their shelves. Thank you to all the local Rotarians who pitched in, and to the Rotaract Club of JMU members whose participation made the event such a success!

At Monday's program, Service Chair Charlie Jackson gave an update. Thank you, Charlie!

We also heard from Andrea Dono, Executive Director of Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance, whose team plays a major role in developing and promoting our Friendly City.

Big Day in Rotary! We hosted members of District 4640 from the State of Parana, Brazil, and we learned about their district and part of the world. It was a fine example of Rotary bringing people of different corners of the globe together for the purpose of friendship and service.
We are also delighted to welcome returning member, Abe Shearer, and new member, Sam Spicher, Jr.

The Rotary Club of Harrisonburg has made the difficult decision to cancel the candidate forum scheduled for October 5 featuring Ben Cline and Beth Macy.
As a nonpartisan service organization, Rotary has a responsibility to ensure that the programs we host reflect our values and our Four-Way Test — including asking whether what we do will build goodwill and better friendships.
After careful consideration, our Board determined that cancelling the forum is the most responsible way to honor those principles and preserve the Club’s nonpartisan role in our community.
This decision is ours as a Rotary Club and is not a reflection on either candidate or their willingness to participate.
We remain committed to bringing people together, encouraging thoughtful civic engagement, and serving our community.

Today we hosted Sabrina Dorman-Andrew from New Creation VA, who work to sell goods created by those who are vulnerable to, or have been affected by human trafficking. This gives those craftspeople income, purpose, and empowers this group to remain free from trafficking. New Creation has also worked to educate over 33,000 students on the realities of trafficking and what to look for to protect themselves and the community.
