Huge thank you to WHSV - TV 3 for spreading the word about how awesome our VITA volunteers are!

Did you know this past tax season, thanks to our IRS-certified volunteers, over 300 tax returns were filed at no charge across the Central Shenandoah Valley and nearly $500,000 went back into the community through tax-prep savings and state and federal returns?

The only way that happens is because dedicated volunteers jump in and make it happen.

🙌 Interested in becoming a VITA volunteer? Reach out to Director of Programs Nadina Pupic at [email protected] to learn more. We’d love to have you on the team!

💖 And if you’d like to help keep this work going, consider making a gift to United Way of Central Shenandoah Valley. Your support helps connect people with the resources they need and makes opportunity more accessible across our community.

🌎 🥕Today is World Food Day, a global reminder that access to safe, nutritious food is a basic need, not a luxury.

Led by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, World Food Day brings people together to raise awareness about hunger, food security and the work still needed to ensure everyone has enough to eat.

At United Way of Central Shenandoah Valley, we know ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), households here in the Valley struggle to make the paycheck stretch far enough to cover groceries, housing, transportation, child care and the bills that keep coming.

When the budget falls short, something has to give. Too often, it's what's on the dinner table.

That's why connecting people with resources and bringing our community together matters. Local organizations, businesses, employers and neighbors all have a role to play in building a Valley where people can meet today's needs and work toward tomorrow's opportunities.

Because nobody should have to choose between feeding their family and paying the bills. 💙

Stronger partnerships. Stronger outcomes. A Stronger Valley.

🌿 Today, we honor the Indigenous peoples whose history, culture and connection to this land are woven through the fabric of the Central Shenandoah Valley.

Long before towns, roads and communities that dot this bucolic landscape took shape, Indigenous peoples called the Central Shenandoah Valley home.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day is an opportunity to listen, learn and recognize the living cultures and contributions of Indigenous communities, past and present. It’s also a reminder that understanding our history helps us build a stronger, more connected community today.

💚 Here’s to a Central Shenandoah Valley that honors its history, celebrates its people and grows stronger together.

🎉 Good food, great people and a whole lot of community!

Join us Saturday as we team up with our friends at CEL Harrisonburg - Rockingham to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! 💙

Come hungry, bring a friend, meet your neighbors and learn more about the resources available to help individuals and families across our community.

Because that's what community is all about. Showing up, coming together and making sure our neighbors know they're not in this alone. 🤝

Hope to see you there!

💙 This is what community looks like.
A backpack for a child.
A free tax return for a working family.
A connection to help when someone needs it.
A local nonprofit with the resources to keep going.
Every day, United Way of Central Shenandoah Valley brings people, resources and organizations together to make those things happen.
But we can’t do it alone.
If you believe in a stronger Central Shenandoah Valley, help us keep the work moving.
Share.
Volunteer.
Show up.
