Today someone asked why we don’t support the community that supports us. We want to share more about the lives—and the people—our mission touches.

Every cat in our cat room, and the hundreds before them, came from our local community.

At any given time, 1/3 of our population comes from our community too. Our local mission focuses on pets whose people have passed away, moved into assisted living, or are facing other crises.

Behind each pet is a person or family in a heartbreaking situation. In our small community, that family might be your neighbor, coworker, or friend. We hold those stories with care. People deserve privacy and dignity during their hardest moments.

Sometimes our work looks like a rescue story you can follow. Sometimes it looks like quietly keeping a promise to someone who can no longer care for their best friend.

We have helped pull dozens of local cats and dogs from hoarding situations when police or the Department of Animal Protection have reached out.

We are part of animal welfare coalitions where shelters reach out for support. Last month, we took in five dogs from Mesa County. In winter, we bring in shelter dogs living out in the cold.

Our service extends to people too. Every day, dozens of local volunteers have a place here to connect, learn about animal welfare, and make a difference. We share resources and knowledge, encourage adoption, and support other organizations. We even have a sign on our door encouraging people to visit their local shelters. Every adoption is a reason to celebrate.

Our mission serves the senior dog declining in a shelter, the pet facing euthanasia, and the animal still waiting for someone to choose them.

Their need matters to us, wherever they are.

We are grateful to the community that makes this possible. Your support comforts local families, gives beloved pets somewhere safe to land, creates opportunities for local people to serve, and reaches animals far away who need a chance.

We hope you support the causes closest to your heart, whether they serve your neighborhood or reach across the world.

Every animal we save is worth saving. Our home is here. Our compassion has no city limits.

Another BIG week at Happy Little Rescue. 💛

🐾 We adopted 6 pets — 3 dogs and 3 cats! We also took in 4 dogs, with another 17 expected this weekend.

✈️ Two brothers are being flown in by an amazing volunteer pilot. They are the brothers of three dogs we took in back in July after they spent months waiting in a shelter.

🚐 Another 15 Texas dogs are arriving by van transport, so it is going to be a very full weekend!

🎉 Our Bananas event was a HUGE success! Even though rain cut us off a little early, we raised more than $2,800 — and counting! Our 50/50 raffle runs through October 18. https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/happy-little-rescue-5050-raffle

🔨Barn Improvements Are Coming!
Thanks to donations, our drywall and insulation project in the barn is getting ready to start! This has been something we have needed for such a long time, and we are so excited to finally see it happening.

💙 $2 Tuesday brought in more than $100 PLUS 48 cans of dog food! We are still especially in need of canned puppy food.

🙋‍♀️ We need volunteers — including skills-based volunteers! We could use help with maintenance and repairs, tree trimming, voicemails, data entry, thank-you cards and calls, laundry, and tagging items for Happy Little Finds.

🛍️ Happy Little Finds shifts still needed:
Friday 12–2
Sunday 2–4 COVERED! Thanks Trinity!
Monday 12–2

💛 We are thinking of Stephanie and her family as they grieve the loss of a family member, and of Rebecca, one of our wonderful shop volunteers who has been out for a while.

👏 And a huge thank you this week to:

Nicki, Trinity, Karen, Ann, Tony, Toni, Denice, Elaine, Bri, Kooper, Jeannette, Sherrie, Kody, Michael, Piper, Barb, and Kyle.

Whether you drove a dog, folded laundry, cleaned something gross, answered phones, took a walk, or simply showed up when we needed you — thank you.

It truly takes a community to keep Happy Little Rescue going. 🐾💛

Little hands. Big hearts. Happy little tails. 🐾💛

The students at Broadway Elementary held a supply drive for Happy Little Rescue, and we are so grateful! Every donated item helps us keep our animals comfortable, cared for, and loved while they wait for families of their own.

To the students: Thank you for showing us that you don’t have to be a grown-up to make a big difference. Your kindness matters, and we hope you feel proud of the good you’ve done. 🥹

Thank you to the families and school staff who helped make it happen, too. Our happy little rescue is happier because of you! 🐶🐱💛

🐾 It’s $2 Tuesday—and small donations make a BIG difference when we come together.

You don’t have to give a lot to help. Two dollars, a can of food, sharing this post—it all adds up when a community works together. 💛

Our Nova Fund was started by a wonderful dog owner who wanted to honor her beloved dog’s memory. Every Tuesday, donations go to this fund to support the medical care and health of our Happy Little Rescue pets.

And sometimes, that care starts with something as simple as a nourishing meal. Right now, we need canned dog food, especially pâté! 🥫

You can support our pets AND shop local through Chow Down, which we always love:

Or send something from our Amazon wish list:

🚚 Both can deliver! 2527 W Pinyon Ave GJ 81505

A little from each of us means a whole lot to them. Thank you for being part of their care. 🐶💛

Had an 8 AM appointment at the orthopedic office and got to say a sentence I’m sure the PA doesn’t hear every day:

“That is most definitely puppy p**p on my pants.” 💩🤦‍♀️

Just one of the many joys of coming to the rescue before dawn to a horde of hungry puppies. It was chilly, wet, and so dark this morning that apparently I couldn’t fully assess what I was wearing to my appointment.

Some people start their day with coffee. I start mine with a puppy stampede and a questionable wardrobe.

But, sure, it’s worth it. 😂🐾

Well… a thunderstorm has decided to grace us with his presence. 💔⛈️

And while our high desert hearts are grateful for the moisture, our rescue hearts are sinking. Our barbecue and puppy event has been washed out. 😭🐾

We had hoped for a day full of families, puppy cuddles, delicious food, and support for the animals who depend on us. Watching those hopes get rained on is heartbreaking.

The best thing you can do for us right now is visit our online silent auction and place a bid. ❤️ There are wonderful items donated by people who believe in our rescue, and you can help right from your couch.

The storm may have changed our day, but the animals still need us—and we still need you.

Please bid, share, and help us find a little sunshine in this very soggy day. 🌧️🐾

🐾 Want to bring the family to meet the puppies and enjoy lunch at Bananas today? Come join us! ❤️

We know feeding a family of four can get costly. If buying just one ticket for your family is what works for your budget, that’s absolutely fine! Just let us know when you come in, and we’ll still get everyone fed with hot dogs or hamburgers. 🌭🍔

We want you to enjoy some family time, puppy cuddles, and a full belly without worrying about the cost!

🐶 Puppies: 11–4
🍔 Lunch: 12–2
