Have you spotted one of our Stuff the Bus buses around Frederick County? πŸšŒπŸ‘€

These buses are helping spread the word that our annual school supply drive is underway now through August 3!

If you'd like to donate, please remember that supplies should NOT be left on or around the bus. Instead, drop off new, unused school supplies inside one of our many public collection locations throughout the community.

We'll save the actual "stuffing" of the buses for pick-up day, when we collect donations from more than 100 businesses and organizations hosting drives across Frederick County!

Every notebook, backpack, folder, and box of crayons helps local students start the school year prepared and ready to learn. πŸ““βœοΈ

Find a public drop-off location and learn more at uwfrederick.org/stuffthebus.

Today, we honor Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equity for all.

At United Way of Frederick County, we recognize that building a stronger community means creating opportunities for every individual and family to thrive. As we reflect on the significance of this day, we remain committed to advancing a community where everyone has access to the resources and support they need to succeed.

In observance of Juneteenth, our office will be closed today.

When nonprofits work together, our community is stronger.

A huge thank you to Blessings in a Backpack Frederick Chapter for donating more than 300 backpacks to Stuff the Bus! πŸŽ’πŸ’™

Partnerships like this demonstrate the power of collaboration in action. By working together, our nonprofit community can maximize resources, reduce barriers, and ensure more ALICE children have the tools they need to start the school year ready to learn and succeed.

Thank you, Blessings in a Backpack, for helping us make sure more students in Frederick County head back to school with confidence!

While many children are celebrating the start of summer today, thousands of local families are already worrying about how they'll afford the supplies needed for the first day of school this fall.

More than 17,000 Frederick County students qualify for free and reduced-price meals, and for many families, purchasing backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other essentials means making impossible choices.

That's where YOU can make a difference.

A financial gift to Stuff the Bus helps us purchase the most-needed school supplies and fill the gaps between what is donated and what students need. Every dollar brings a child one step closer to walking into their classroom feeling prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

πŸ“š $25 equips one kindergarten student with crayons, markers, and pencils
πŸ’™ $50 helps provide essential school supplies for an elementary student
πŸŽ’ $150 fully supplies a middle school student with the tools they need

As one school year ends, let's come together to prepare local students for the next one.

Donate today and help ensure every child starts the school year with the tools they need to succeed πŸ““ https://ow.ly/ELL550ZbZ29

On Tuesday, our team joined nonprofit professionals from across Frederick County and Maryland for the Frederick Nonprofit Summit, a day dedicated to learning, connection, and celebrating the incredible impact of our sector.

This year's summit challenged us to recognize the "superpowers" we bring to our communities every day with an inspiring keynote from Glennda Testone of the Nonprofit Leadership Lab, followed by a panel of local nonprofit leaders who brought those insights back to our community.

We're especially proud of our own Erin Lawson for her service on the planning committee and "super" introduction of the panel!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's summit a success. We're grateful to be part of a community of nonprofit superheroes working together to build a stronger Frederick County. πŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈ

This week, our team was proud to represent United Way of Frederick County at United Way's Northeast Regional Conference in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania!

Ken, Serena, and Erin joined United Way leaders from across the region to learn, collaborate, and share ideas that strengthen communities. We're especially proud that both Ken and Erin were selected to lead breakout sessions, sharing insights on what it means to be a small United Way making a big impact and highlighting the innovative Unity Campaign model.

Opportunities like this allow us to bring new ideas back to Frederick County while contributing to conversations that help shape the future of the United Way network.

Thank you to our colleagues across the Northeast for the opportunity to connect, learn, and grow together!

June is National Homeownership Month, and we’re celebrating the families who turned the dream of owning a home into a reality through United Way of Frederick County’s Pathway to Homeownership program. 🏑✨

Designed for first-time homebuyers, the program provides education, guidance, and a $14,000 match to help participants purchase their first home, creating opportunities that can impact families for generations to come.

Homeownership is more than a milestone. It’s stability, security, and an investment in the future. It’s an asset that can be passed down, helping build generational wealth and stronger communities right here in Frederick County.

These photos feature just a few of our incredible graduates proudly standing in front of the homes they worked so hard to own. Their stories are proof that with the right support and opportunity, life-changing goals are within reach. πŸ’™

Congratulations to our graduates, and thank you to our donors and partners at ACNB Bank, PNC, The Women's Giving Circle of Frederick County, Maryland, and Frederick County Government, MD who help make these success stories possible.
