Today, SCI brought together new and current members of our Board of Directors, our Executive Team, and members of our Senior Leadership Team for a daylong Board Orientation meeting focused on how SCI works today and how we are positioned for tomorrow.

The day offered an opportunity for meaningful discussion, shared learning, and deeper connection around SCI’s mission, values, and strategic direction. We are grateful for the commitment, insight, and leadership our Board members bring to SCI as we continue working together to support people and families across Maryland.

Today, we recognize National Accessible Air Travel Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of safe, dignified, and accessible air travel for people with disabilities.

Air travel is not a luxury, especially as our lives become more global and interconnected. It helps people visit loved ones, access work and community opportunities, attend important events, and experience the world. But for many travelers with disabilities, barriers still exist when using mobility devices, service animals, communication supports, or other accommodations. Our latest blog highlights why accessibility in air travel matters, shares helpful resources, and reflects on the importance of building travel systems that honor choice, safety, and inclusion.

📍 From Allegany to Washington Counties, SCI has spent 20 years expanding our reach to serve more communities across Maryland.

At one point, SCI had 13 offices across the state! Today, we operate out of two offices in Owings Mills and Frederick, while our Team Members continue to be embedded in communities statewide.

This community-based approach helps us stay connected, responsive, and close to the people and families we support.
