When Sniffers, now 14, arrived at his foster home with Matt Willey, his right eye was in such bad shape it had to be removed. He didn’t bother to negotiate with fate about it. Now he’s down one eye but still fully convinced he’s the neighborhood security chief—regularly patrolling the yard and loudly informing deer and foxes in the field that they are, in fact, trespassing on his personal kingdom.

At 11 years old, Strudel is the newest member of the crew, currently being spoiled rotten by foster dad Matt Willey. Sweet, affectionate, and clearly committed to her beauty rest, Strudel enjoys wandering off to quiet rooms for strategic nap deployment. Matt Willey, foster dad and full-time servant to senior hounds, shares the tale of Bones. At just 12 years old, Bones is somehow the youngster of our crew. He was discovered wandering loose with a tether and spike still attached to his neck, which tells you two things: his former owner was awful, and Bones was absolutely determined to file for immediate escape.

When Animal Control found him, he was heartbreakingly thin, so they named him Bones. These days, he’s recovered nicely and has embraced a life of luxury. His primary responsibilities include selecting the softest chair in the house from which to rule over his kingdom like a retired king with very strong opinions about snacks.

His only flaw? If there is even the slightest whisper of rain in the forecast, Bones will stage an indoor “weather emergency” and p*e in the house as a form of protest against nature itself.

Update from Opal's foster mom, Kelly Casey:

Opal is doing great. I am pretty sure she considers Ollie to be her boyfriend since they often share a dog bed and she likes to sit near him. She loves going on walks and she is good around adults and children while we are out walking. She sits on the back of the sofa watching for me to return when I have to leave the house. She is my shadow and is a champion taste tester. She is the only dog in this house that eats bananas. She very much enjoys belly rubs and ear/head scratchies because if you stop she looks at you like "excuse me, I didn't say stop".

Her ideal home could have a similar size dog friend, someone who is retired or works from home, and can take her on walks a few times a day. She loves sniffaris.

Today we mourn the loss of Loni Willey, a devoted foster, compassionate advocate, and Vice President of House of Puddles. Loni opened her heart and home to so many in need, giving comfort, dignity, and love to dogs who needed it most.

Her kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment made a lasting impact on everyone who knew her—both human and canine. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched.

Rest easy, Loni. Thank you for everything you gave.

Archie is both ancient and adorable. All of his legs are weak. His front legs are always splayed out when he lies down. When he walks, his back legs do a little jig to keep his balance. He slips and slides on the bare floor until he gets to the next rug. Lately, he hasn't been eating as well so I'm a little concerned. He's been here exactly a year. He's 14 years old and was found as a stray. I suspect someone just dumped him because he certainly couldn't run off by himself. He's so lovable, I don't know how anyone could do that. But he's got some s***k. He'll lift his lips and give his opinion if anyone gets in his way.
