It's no secret that people are feeling the pinch on their wallets more than ever.

Balancing safe, stable housing on top of childcare, food, healthcare, transportation, and a plethora of other costs can be too much for many families.

The Affordable Housing Workgroup, in collaboration with the Housing Solutions Task Force is working to bring more deeply affordable housing options to Frederick County's most vulnerable residents.

Healthier Frederick is thrilled to have Natalie joining us this Fall as our student intern! Natalie is an aspiring medical doctor, and spends much of her time studying to make this dream a reality! She is passionate about health equity and community outreach and has been a key part of out communications efforts and outreach to the community.

Healthier Frederick was thrilled to host our October Quarterly Community Health Meeting on Tuesday morning! We are grateful to those who joined us both in person at Frederick Health Village and online via Zoom.

The meeting featured updates from Frederick Health, the Frederick County Health Department, and a special presentation from the Mental Health Association of Frederick County on their call center data dashboard. Additionally, each of the five Local Health Improvement Workgroups shared updates about their latest projects and how to get involved.

Our team was honored to participate in techfrederick’s inaugural Tech Expo last week with board member Brooke DeSantis from The Love For Lochlin Foundation Inc and development consultant Lili Leonard from Black Dog Philanthropic. We got to meet many community members and explore collaborations with local tech organizations!

Healthier Frederick is proud to partner with the Frederick Housing Solutions Task Force in their advocacy for opening up pathways for more deeply affordable housing options in our community!

A note about Single Room Occupancy/Personal Living Quarters in the City of Frederick:

The Frederick Housing Solutions Task Force supports legalizing Single Room Occupancy/Personal Living Quarters as one option to address the scarcity of housing options for those earning under $25,000/year. We believe in a solution that is responsive to the input of the community infrastructure concerns and also allows for dignified, safe, and deeply affordable housing options for our most vulnerable residents.
