💜 Walk to End Alzheimer’s

On October 24, 2026, the Fayetteville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Team Miles for Memories proudly joined the community for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, standing in solidarity with families, caregivers, and survivors who continue to fight this challenging disease.

Our presence reflected our unwavering commitment to service, advocacy, and sisterhood as we walked with purpose, hope, and love.

Together, we honor those we’ve lost, uplift those still fighting, and support the mission to create a world without Alzheimer’s.

Did You Know:

About 21.3% of Black Americans aged 70 and older have Alzheimer’s and prevalence estimates show rates roughly 1.5 to 2 times higher than among non-Hispanic White populations.

On October 22, 2026 the Armed Forces Committee of the Fayetteville Alumnae Chapter (FAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, joined Warren Chapel FWB Church for a fun, family‑centered Trunk‑or‑Treat that brought joy, safety, and community spirit for the children in the Godwin service area.

Even though the weather tried to stop us, we simply moved the fun indoors and the community showed up with joy, creativity, and
excitement.

FAC Chapter Members greeted families with sweet treats and warm smiles; creating a festive space where children could celebrate, connect, and enjoy Halloween in a secure environment.

This collaboration strengthened community bonds, showcased shared commitment to service, and ensured local families experienced a memorable evening filled with laughter, creativity, and sisterly love.

On October 17, 2026 the Armed Forces Committee of Fayetteville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated proudly joined VFW Post 6018 for their annual Trunk-or-Treat celebration!

Our Chapter showed up in full sisterly spirit - decorating trunks, passing out candy, and spreading joy to families, veterans, and little superheroes from across the community.

This collaboration reflects our commitment to service, unity, and uplifting military families throughout Fayetteville.

A huge thank you to VFW Post 6018 for hosting such a fun, safe, and family-centered event. We are honored to stand alongside our veterans and continue building strong community partnerships.

🩷 STRONGER THAN BREAST CANCER 🩷

The Physical and Mental Health Committee of the Fayetteville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated recently had the pleasure of hosting an empowering Afrobeats Fitness workout with Tajsah “Taco” Tonkins to honor breast cancer survivors and share vital breast cancer awareness information and resources. In addition, we collected new and gently used bras, as well as new panties, in support of International Day of the Girl Child.

We extend our sincere thanks to the community for coming out to support this wellness event. We would also like to express our gratitude to:

- Dr. Terri Huff-Simmons, DNP, for speaking on breast cancer awareness and emphasizing the importance of self-breast examinations and annual mammograms.

- LaKeesha Bailey (Survivor), for bravely sharing her testimony.

- Virginia Ware and the International Awareness and Involvement Committee, for their collaboration on the International Day of the Girl Child initiative.

- The Tau Eta Eta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. nurses, for assisting with resources and answering questions from community members.

- Tajsah “Taco” Tonkins, for leading an incredible and energetic Afrobeats session.

Black Women have a 38% higher breast cancer mortality rate compared to White Women, despite slightly lower incidents.

Black men have the highest breast cancer mortality rate of any racial group - are more likely to be diagnosed at later stages and about 52% more likely to die from breast cancer than White men.
