SCA was pleased to sponsor and participate in the 17th Annual Justin Ihly Baker Golf Tournament yesterday, hosted by the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce at Riverton Pointe.

A portion of the proceeds from the tournament will support the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce Student Scholarship Program, which gives a $1,000 scholarship to an outstanding senior in each of Jasper County’s high schools.

Congratulations to Bamberg County!

Hull & Husk, a producer of diverse agriculture products, has announced that the company will invest $3.175 million and create 19 jobs at their production facility in Bamberg County. Located at 2214 Spider Road, the company will produce a variety of artisanal cooking pellets, premium wildlife feed and deer and rabbit deterrent as well at their new operations center.

Congratulations to the town of Blackville, South Carolina on the official Groundbreaking of their new Town Hall!

The new Town Hall, that will be located downtown Blackville beside Russell's Pizza, will create a new, modern space for the town to better serve its residents and businesses.

SouthernCarolina Alliance: Celebrating 30 Years of Success

Decades ago, our regional leaders recognized the promising economic potential of Jasper County's strategic proximity to the Port of Savannah and major Interstate corridors. On January 20, 2015, SCA, along with Jasper County business and community leaders, gathered at the PointSouth Commerce Park at Exit 33 on I-95 to break ground on a 50,000 SF industrial spec building to attract new businesses to the area.

Today, that building, which was marketed as the PointSouth Commerce Park Spec Building, is home to Builders FirstSource, a Fortune 500 company that announced plans in 2021 to locate its manufacturing operations there, investing $16 million and providing 126 jobs.

SCA is proud of our decades of success working with our public and private partners to put the necessary infrastructure in place to recruit industries to our seven-county region, creating quality, good-paying jobs for our residents.

Congratulations again to this young Wimbledon Champion from right here in the SCA region! 🏆

🎾 Celebrating a Wimbledon Champion right here on Hilton Head Island!

Mayor Alan Perry had the honor of presenting 13-year-old Isha Manchala with a Commendation recognizing her remarkable achievement as the 2026 Wimbledon Girls’ 14-and-Under Singles Champion.

Isha made history as the first American to win the prestigious 14-and-under title, an incredible accomplishment on one of the biggest stages in tennis. She also holds the No. 1 Universal Tennis Rating in the world for girls under 14.

A Hilton Head Island resident, Isha has trained at Van Der Meer Tennis for the past four years under coach Derek Porter, Tennis Director at Van Der Meer. Joining Isha and Mayor Perry for the presentation were Derek and Isha’s mother, Kavitha Chinthakunta.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Isha and the hard work, dedication and determination that have brought her to this moment. At just 13 years old, she is already making history and representing Hilton Head Island on the world stage.

SouthernCarolina Alliance: Celebrating 30 Years of Success

21 years ago, on June 1, 2005, SCA was pleased to announce the recruitment of Grant Forest Products to Allendale County, a project that was named later that year as the largest capital investment announcement in the State of South Carolina. In addition to the $400 million investment and 240 jobs the project represented, they also built the world's largest and most technologically advanced oriented strand board (osb) manufacturing facility at the time.

Today, the Allendale County facility is home to West Fraser, that announced plans in 2022 to acquire the mill, investing $280 million and creating 135 new jobs. The company currently employs approximately 140 employees and continues to be one of our region's major industries.
