Volunteer Spotlight 💙

Today, volunteer Jennifer Cochran stopped by and helped us organize our supply closet. It may seem like a small task, but it makes a big difference in how smoothly we can serve the children and families who count on us.

Donna Lopes stopped by our office with a check for $8,000 from the 9th Annual Derby Run in Memory of Justin Lopes. 💙

To the Lopes family: thank you. Every year you turn the memory of your son into something that helps children in our community. Because of you, kids and families in Cumberland County will have a safe place to heal and people in their corner when they need it most.

And to everyone who ran, walked, wore a Derby hat, or bid on a silent auction item, you were part of this too. Thank you for showing up.

Justin's legacy is making a real difference for the children we serve. We are so grateful.

2,000 blankets. Years of showing up.

For years, the women's ministry at St. James Lutheran Church has been making no-sew blankets for the children we serve at the Child Advocacy Center. That adds up to 2,000 new blankets, each one tied by hand and each one going to a child who needs comfort on the hardest day.

That kind of faithfulness doesn't happen by accident. It takes people who keep showing up, year after year, for kids they may never meet.

To the women of St. James: thank you. Your generosity is wrapped around so many children in our community.

Thank you for making the CAC Fall Gala "Turning Awareness Into Action" a sold-out event! October 17 at Crown Coliseum is going to be a night to remember. Stay tuned for details on our auction, where you'll have the chance to bid on some incredible items, all in support of the children and families we serve.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, volunteer Marcia showed up for our kids in the sweetest way.

To commemorate this day, Marcia donated 10 comfort blankets to the CAC and every child who comes in for an interview will get to choose one to keep. Stars or pawprints, their pick.

And of course, Quinn was there too. This sweet therapy dog from St. James regularly visits the CAC alongside her handler, Dave Runkle, bringing calm and comfort to children who need it most - just like therapy dogs did in the aftermath of 9/11.

Thank you, Marcia, Quinn, and Dave for pouring love into this community. Our kids feel it. 🩵
