Stockhands Horses For Healing

Due to the sensitive populations we serve, STOCKHANDS IS A CLOSED FACILITY.

501(c)3 Non Profit Organization serving children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities as well as Veterans, First Responders and those struggling with mental health and recovery through equine assisted therapeutic services. All visitors outside of normal programming must reach out to us to schedule a time to visit so that we can ensure the proper staff is on site and limit program disruption.

We are closed this week for Memorial Day but our instructors and instructors in training took advantage of the quiet time to work with some of our horses and get in some riding time.

We have 6 PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) certified instructors and 2 Instructors in training at Stockhands. All of them work tirelessly each week to lead therapeutic riding and driving lessons for our participants and we are so grateful for the work they do. We are so glad that they had this time to enjoy some personal time with the horses and each other.

Did you know that we often times we get to do the same activities in our driving lessons as we do in our mounted lessons? And the benefits are right in alignment as well!

Today we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

At Stockhands Horses for Healing we recognize that freedom comes at a great cost and we are deeply grateful for those who gave everything for others. As we spend time with family and friends today, may we also take a moment to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of our fallen heroes.

Their service will never be forgotten. ❤️🤍💙

We braved the weather to spend the day at Pickaway Correctional Institution working with their Veteran and Mental Health populations. It’s always meaningful to share the therapeutic effects horses can have with individuals who may not otherwise have access to these experiences.

This partnership is incredibly important to us at Stockhands. Many people do not realize that Veterans often face significant challenges during the transition from military service to civilian life. The physical, emotional, and mental toll can be overwhelming, and while progress has been made in recognizing the need for support, there are still too many individuals who fall through the cracks.

At Stockhands, we believe in second chances. We believe healing and growth are possible when people are given support, compassion, and the opportunity to reconnect with themselves and others. Through these visits, we hope to remind people that their past does not define their future, and that every person deserves the chance to move forward.

What do you get when you add 1 Director of Development from Stockhands and FOUR First grade classes at Indian Springs Elementary?

A fun filled day at Camp Skeeter!

Our Director of Development Angie Mack spent the day sharing Stockhands with the first grade classes at Indian Springs Elementary in Powell. They learned about how horses are great at mirroring our emotions, great for calming us when we are nervous and just how amazing a horse partner can be!

Thanks to Olentangy Schools for having us out and a HUGE thank you to the classes of Ms. Zapolnik, Ms. Petrelle, Ms. Tomplait, Ms. Hake and Ms. Oehler for sharing the afternoon with us!

We were joined by the Nationwide Investments team who came out for a service day at Stockhands! They raised $1,100.00 to purchase supplies to help us painting the fencing around our pond and along the driveway. The team did such a great job making the fence look FABULOUS!!! Afterwards, the team joined us in the arena for a little one on one time with the herd doing a blind trust activity and learning about all the work that we do at Stockhands.
