Seminary Hill Farm is nested within the ecosystems of MTSO’s 80-acre campus that is cared for by the Land Stewardship Team. This week they prepared and planted over a thousand tree seedlings into hugelkultur beds until transferring to campus woodlands this fall.

The April Bird Walk at MTSO’s Seminary Hill Farm, led by Susan Wasmund, did not disappoint. We witnessed many species- among them cowbirds, bluebirds, cardinals, an eagle and even sandhill cranes on their migration north. Along the way, we stopped@to admire buckeye trees in bloom, Virginia bluebells, Dutchman’s breeches, and spring woodland delights. March bird walk: 12 species were seen today with the morning’s cold temps. The woods always gift us with curiosities: snowdrop flowers, oak shothole leaf miner evidence in last year’s leaves and the work of a pileated woodpecker.
