This Memorial Day, we pause to remember those who gave everything in service to our nation. As you enjoy this day off, we hope you take a few moments to reflect on the words of General John Logan's General Order No. 11, which established Memorial Day:

"We should guard their graves with sacred vigilance... Let pleasant paths invite the coming and going of reverent visitors and fond mourners... Let no neglect, no ravages of time, testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided republic."

If you are planning to attend the American Legion Buckeye Boys State and have not yet received your delegate packet in the mail, please ensure that you have completed the necessary application.

To apply, please scan the QR code located at the bottom of the gold document provided by your sponsoring American Legion Post. Please note that the "Interested in Attending" Google Form is not an official application.

The American Legion Buckeye Boys State 2026 Ohio State Highway Patrol detail has been selected!

This year, we will be joined by Trooper Sandlin, Sgt. Garloch, and Sgt. Schreiber.

As always, we appreciate our partnership with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

If you are a delegate interested in joining the BBS Highway Patrol Detail, they will be testing on Monday June 15th at 2:30PM during the program.

If you have any questions, make sure to find one of our Troopers at the program (and make sure to ask them about Junior Cadet Week)!

They will be with us all week, so make sure to tell them hi!!

On March 6, Captain Curtis Angst was one of six joint USAF–Air National Guard flight crew members who gave their lives in service to our country during “Operation Epic Fury,” answering the call of duty with unwavering courage.

Captain Angst attended the American Legion Buckeye Boys State program in 2013 and exemplified the values our program strives to instill—leadership, integrity, and service above self.

The American Legion Buckeye Boys State staff and ALBBS class of 2013 are profoundly grateful for having known Curtis Angst and for the steadfast commitment he demonstrated in the service of others. His legacy stands as a powerful reminder of the character and courage embodied by those who choose to serve. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all those who loved him.

Captain Curtis Angst, along with other Buckeye Boys State alumni who have made the supreme sacrifice for our nation, will be honored during the annual Memorial Service at the 2026 program this summer.

Welcome back, astronauts 🚀

Over the last two weeks, the world's eyes were once again lifted to the stars, and with it, our sense of wonder at what's possible.

In 1962, BBS alum John Glenn ('46) became the first American to orbit the Earth. His courage, leadership, and sense of duty to something greater than himself were forged through experiences just like those we create at Buckeye Boys State every year.

The next generation of astronauts, senators, generals, and CEOs is sitting in a classroom right now. We're here to find them, challenge them, and send them out ready to lead.
